OK, so yesterday was a very wedding-filled day. I got my wedding day shoes, I met with Wedding Connections of Carle Place and got some ideas, and went to BB&B to look around.
At the suggestion of a very nice poster on BHB, I made an appointment with Wedding Salon of Manhasset. I fell in love with two more dresses (Monique Lhullier Venice, and a Marisa Bridal gown). I had Mary as my consultant and she was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. She was patient, pinned the dress so it fit almost exactly, I must have tried on at least 8 or 9 dresses. The service I received was impeccable. At Wedding Salon of Manhasset it was the first time I tried on dresses and felt like a bride...
HOWEVER, they're a little out of my price range.
Lilette's was wonderful too, but all the dresses I had on didn't 'fit' so I couldn't get a good feel for what they looked like on. I kind of had to imagine what it would look like altered.
I have follow up appointments with both Salons... what would you do: Would you spend more money on the dress and alterations knowing they would be wonderful even though it's almost painfully out of budget? Or would you try to work with the other salon knowing they do INCREDIBLE work and their dresses are more in your price range?

Re: Bridal Salon of Manhasset vs. Lilette's - LONG
im a little biased towards bridal salon of manhasset since i bought my dress there but at the same time if lillettes has a good reputation and you did love a few dresses there and theyre more in your price range than that would be the more reasonable choice
i guess it depends on how out of your budget the other dresses were, if its anamount that can be made up by skimpining a little somewhere else then i would DEF go with bridal salon of manhasset!!!!
yay Joanne!!!!!!!!!! so glad you had great experience AND found beautiful drsses!!!!!

Do you know if Lillette's carries Monique or Marisa gowns? If they do, even if they don't have the sample in store, you can still order it through them. That's what I'm doing with my Eve of Milady gown. I found the gown elsewhere, but I wanted to order it from Lillette's. Even though they don't have the sample in store, since they sell Eve gowns, they could order any one of them.
You also may be able to get a better price on it.
Just a suggestion

It won't break it, it's just going to bend it out of shape a lot :)
I am so wedding ignorant... can I buy the dress in one place and have it altered in another?

i dont think you can the dress i picked out can only be ordered from 2 places on li, and one gave me a better price but i have heard horrible things about alterations there, so i think im going to go with lillettes, where it is more expensive..

I never went to Lilette's so couldn't voice my opnion on them but did buy my dress at Bridal Salon and couldnt be happier with my decision. I think you should buy it where you are most comfortable but then again won't go over your budget too much.. I guess Im no help

I got my gown from Wedding Salon..I love it there!
You have to get the dress you love.
Could you order the Monique dress during a trunk show and get 15% off? See if they could work with you on the price. They really aim to please there.
