Bridal shop question...
Hi all- I am going to start my dress hunt in a couple of weeks with my mom, and we are both really excited! My problem is that I'm not originally from Long Island, and I have no idea really where to begin. My mom is from Westchester, so I have to pick her up then bring her back here so we can look. I am from Long Beach, and I really don't want to be driving out to Suffolk - but I have a budget that I have to consider (I want to keep the dress at the $600-1000 mark). Someone once mentioned a bridal center in Lynbrook - does anyone know the name/phone #? Also, do you have any other suggestions? And how far in advance I have to make an appointment? Thank you all so much in advance...

Bridal shop question...
You can go to David's Bridal. Also Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. They have a lot of dresses in that price range. I don't know too much about Nassau but I can tell you places that would not be good for your budget- Manhasset Bridal Couture, Bridal Reflections in Carle Place.I know the Macy's in Smithhaven Mall has a good selection in that price range, but I think the one at Roosevelt Field has much more expensive stuff. Alfred Angelo dresses are definately in that price range. You cann also negoiate with the salon after you find the dress and call around to see if you can get a better price. Some will give you a bigger discount if your BMs get their dresses at the same shop. You might want to look elsewhere for your headpiece. Bridal Salons tend to be more expensive. Also- one more tip: Try one dresses that you don't think you will like. You would be surprised how different a dress looks on. And have fun!!!

Bridal shop question...
There are two bridal dress shops in Lynbrook that I know of. The big one that's been there forever is on Sunrise Highway, near the train station and the White Castle. I don't remember exactly, but I think it might just be called Lynbrook Bridal. The other store I am thinking about may be relatively new to the area. It's on Merrick Road and is called Beautiful Bride. Beautiful Bride, Inc. 260 Merrick Rd. Lynbrook, NY 11563 516-593-1105 There's also a place in Garden City that people love - they are family owned and have been around forever. But I don't know the price range of the dresses: Bonaventure 953 Franklin Ave. Garden City, NY 11530 516-741-1080 And another in Baldwin: Lillette's Bridal 861 Merrick Rd. Baldwin, NY 11510 516-546-5660 Good Luck!!

Lynbrook Bridal on Sunrise Hwy...I recommend highly...
I also live in Long Beach, and it's very close. That is where I got my dress as a matter of fact!! They have a good selection of dresses for brides and bridesmaids, it seems. I worked with a woman named Camilla, and she was very helpful! (I think she only works Tues and Sat though). Anyway, if you need hours and exact directions, let me know. Here's the #: 516-599-1151 Good luck!

Well, I'm not originally from Long Island - that's what probably confused you! I've been living in Long Beach for about a year now - I live right on Park Ave right by the Bagel Club!! :)Although I probably don't know you - maybe we've seen each other at Brooklyn's (the old Bogarts) or something! Hahaha!!! Hopefully we'll bump into each other sometime! I may be hitting you up for directions to these bridal salons shortly! Thanks!!! :)

I bought my Alfred Angelo gown at Lynbrook Bridal too! Also got the bridesmaids dresses there. They are very nice there, although sometimes short-staffed. I recommend always scheduling fittings during the week at around 3:30 or 4:00 PM, if possible. It makes a difference! Best of luck!

I live in Manhasset now, but go to Long Beach to take advantage of the boardwalk when I have the time. I miss the sound of the ocean!

thanks so much for that advice...it will come in handy when the time comes!! I am so glad you had a good experience there, it calms my nerves a bit. My dress will be in in May...only 1 month before the wedding. So I am a little nervous!!

Alfred Angelo...
my dress is part of his new spring line...I haven't seen it in a catalog, but it's on the website...it is very easy to describe, it's the one with the lace cap sleeves and cathedral train. Is it the same as yours??? How funny would that be?!!!!!!!!

to anyone interested in moving to Long Beach...
an insider`s tip: the tenant across the hall from me told me a while ago that she may be moving out this spring. And actually, we too are thinking of moving (my move seems much more tentative though)...So if anyone is interested, I can keep ya posted. I don`t always act as an agent for my landlords, but this place isn`t too bad...and it`s 2 blks from the water!! Anyway...if anyone is interested, you can write me at my private e mail: [email protected] (believe me, I was not paid for this endorsement!!!!)Welcome New Vendors
