Bridal Shops!

So just as yesterday kicked off my venue search, this upcoming Sunday will kick off my dress search. I wanted to wait but my best friend (who is also my MOH) is in town for a few weeks so we're just diving in!

Any recommendations about bridal shops on LI or in Manhattan? I'm calling today for an appointment at Princess Bridals in Farmingdale for Sunday, but other suggestions are welcome too! The only place I'm staying away from is David's Bridal because of how they treated me SIL when she got married.

Wish me luck!!

Bridal Shops!

I had a wonderful experience at Helen's in Commack. It is a small salon but the staff really help 'make' the experience and they don't rush you, pressure you, etc. They also had a promotion on their website when I bought, and I got my veil for free. If you end up finding your gown there, make sure to ask for Tula for alterations. She is incredibly talented!

Bridal Shops!

I just had a TOTALLY weird experience when I called Princess Bridals in Farmingdale (they are really close to my house). They charged me $25 for the reservation (which I thought was odd but I let it slide) and then as I was about to hang up they mentioned I only get 40 minutes to try on dresses.

I feel like I'm going to be rushed when I go there now, but since I already gave them my CC info for the 'fee' and they've probably already charged me, I don't want to cancel and lose the money.

Do more bridal places do that? I don't recall doing that at all with my sister in law when we went to some places in Suffolk.

Bridal reflections asks for a cc# in case you no show- but wont charge if you give 24? 48? hours notice. are you sure this isnt what you are doing?

Bridal Elegance in Huntington was great!! They never made me feel rushed. I tried on dresses for about 2 hours. An the alterations team has been awesome.

Re: Bridal Shops!

That might be it (which is fine and makes sense), but I don't like how short they were on the phone with me and that they said I only get 40 minutes. I just got a bad vibe and I ended up looking up some reviews of them which confirm my fears (both on this website, on Yelp, and on theknot.com).

I'm going to cancel my appointment with them tomorrow (it's for Sunday) and try another place. Maybe Bridal Refections or Village Bridal. I was thinking about Fantasia since I had a good experience as a BM there (my SIL also got her dress there), but it's a little too much of a hike for me since I'm in Bethpage.
