Re: Bridal Showcase at Oheka Castle
I'm going with my mom and my fiance. When I called to RSVP, the girl was like 'Ok, how do you want to pay the $60?' So I charged it. I think of it as a $20 cover charge for a cocktail party. I'm sure we'd spend more than that going out having a few drinks and hors d'oeuvres. It will also give me an opportunity to see a few 'high end' things in person - flowers, decor, dresses, whatever - so I can take pictures of them and copy them in a much cheaper way!

I'm going to a showcase at another hall the night before, so I won't be going to the Oheka one.

Re: Bridal Showcase at Oheka Castle
FYI, for those annoyed at them charging $20 to go - i just thought I'd pass on that when I went to look to have my wedding there they gave me a good bag before i left. A lot of it was just paperwork, etc. But i did get FREE Clinique makeup that i actually wear everyday. (3 eyeshadows and a lipstick in great colors!)
just thought i'd pass that on...

Re: Bridal Showcase at Oheka Castle
I went. The CH food was really good, but suprisingly, the dessert wasn't that great at all. The drinks - well, they were very tasty and very strong.
I was so afraid that I'd visit the castle and get upset/jealous that I wasn't having my reception there, but it actually made me love Fox Hollow more!
It's a really beautiful place, but it felt 'cold.' I imagine you could do a lot with decor - flowers and banner drapings - but I don't want to be bothered with that for my wedding. The wait staff and bartenders were some of the nicest people I've ever met! The frequency of the passed hors d'oeuvres and the drink service, as well as the quick plate clean up was really great.
I saw akaMrsT there and said hello to her over by the chocolate fountain. Otherwise, I didn't recognize anyone from LIW, but I had a lot of cosmos, so who knows if I was just oblivious after a while
The vendors there didn't do anything for me, actually quite a few of them turned us off. Actually, let me note that the jewelry designer Thomas Knoell was really friendly and great, and is work is simply beautiful. There was one videographer/photographer there who was so pompus and rude that we walked away from him shaking our heads. All he kept telling us was that he was a (movie) director and does favors for Oheka by shooting weddings for them. We told him we were at Fox Hollow, and he 'offered' to 'help us out' as well. He kept pressuring us to book, and said something to the effect of 'My work is so amazing, ask (the woman who runs Oheka) how great I am and you'll be right back her to book me.' Yeah, let me go run and do that.
The gift bag had a copy of In Style magazine, a Clinique lipstick (in a really nice shade) a pack of matches and votive candle from Petals and Wine, a video of Oheka, a Bvlgari perfume sample, and various advertisements. All in all, it was worth the $20 cover charge - we certainly ate and drank that much and more!
