Bridal Shower

Out of curiosity, either for your wedding or one in which you were a bridesmaid...how many of you were asked to pitch in for the bridal shower or if it was yours had your bridesmaids give you the shower. My mother gave me my bridal shower and I thought this was more typical nowadays. Am I right?

I disagree

you're parents are probably paying for much of the wedding. if your bridesmaids are close friends and able, they should pay for it.

What they did for me.

I'm only having a MOH and she happens to be my FSIL, so both Moms helped out with the showers expenses. They split the restaurant bill 3 ways and my MOH took care of all the extras.

Bridal Shower

My think my MOH pretty much paid for the whole thing, although the other girls may have pitched in, but then we were all well established in the workplace and she was well able to cover the expense. When I was a MOH a few years ago, I picked up most of the expense and the party was small, held at the FMIL`s house - she contributed some additional food. Sometimes the mothers or other family members do offer to chip in behind the scenes because it can get very costly, especially if the MOH or Bridesmaids are young. I think this especially happens if the attendants also happen to be related to the bride or groom, because the mothers are in a better position to understand their financial circumstances. There really are no rules here. Don`t expect that the parents should ante up in any way. It really is up to the bridal attendants or another close relative such as an Aunt, to pay for the shower if they choose to give one. Another option - an Aunt could host a shower for immediate family, the bridal attendants could then have a small shower for close friends and that way the expenses are spread out and it`s easier to have it at someone`s home.

Bridal Shower

This is always such a difficult thing...I have been in 5 wedding parties so far, and I'm in one in Oct. and maybe one next June. We have always had help from the bride's mom, although we didn't expect it at first. But now with my wedding coming up, the thought of having to pay for the shower (at a restaurant) on top of everything else is very scary. I wouldn't depend on the parents though. Brides (including myself) need to understand the expenses of everything, and I've already told people that whenever my shower comes, just have everyone host it at someone's house, and make it a potluck lunch type of thing to keep expenses WAY down...

Bridal Shower

As a bridesmaid, all of us always chipped in. If the moms contributed it was small though well appreciated.

my Bridal Shower is this weekend

My shower is actually this Saturday. My MOH and my mom are doing all the planning and I'm not sure if the BM are pitching in for the cost. We are having it at my MOH parent's house. In my friends wedding from last year I was a BM, we planned a lot of it, but the brides mom wouldn't let us pay for it. She wanted to do the whole thing.

For me

My bridal party paid for most of mine (a certain number of people) and the moms made up the difference depending on how many they invited. (Actually, my mom paid for a bunch more people and Ken's mom paid for the cake) It was really nice and I was very thankful for what they did for me!

Bridal Shower

As a bridesmaid, I've always contributed money and time to planning and giving showers. As the bride, since my fiance and I have paid for our entire wedding on our own, my mom paid for my entire shower and gave the 'credit' to my bridal party by listing them as the 'givers' on the invitation. I know that this was much appreciated by the girls since I'm the 5th one of our friends to get married in 2 years, and we're all pretty broke! : )
