I am getting married next year September in New York but I am living in London. I want a bridal shower but it would have to be in New York as well. The gift registry is the problem. I can't recieve any electrical appliances or anything too large that I would have to transport back to England! I know people like to give gifts at a shower but for mine I think it's impossible.

What about a registry at a non-traditional store like a sporting goods store or something like that? FH and I did R.E.I. in addition to Macy's & Target.....so we could register for Kayaks

Why not register in stores in london and have the people send the gift directly to your place there. With the internet it is possible. As far as bringing gifts to your NY shower let it be just a lingerie or recipe & wishing well party. You could do games and just eat and drink. Just a thought.

I was going to say the same thing...
We did that for my SIL's baby shower. They live in Kansas but we had the shower in NY so we just told the guests to order the gifts online and have them shipped to Kansas.

I had thought of this too but shipping is really expensive internationally and guests would have to pay for gifts in pounds which is double the price in dollars!

You could register at Amazon.com and have the gifts shipped to London

THis might be silly but if you registered at the UK Amazon site then they would be ordering from the UK with UK shipping prices. It wouldn't be that bad for your guests.
