My younger sister is in a bridal party next November. The brides Mom e-mailed all the girls in the bridal party and wants to know what they are planning for the brides SHOWER. My sister who is still in College was in shock because there is no way she can put up money for a party. Is it the norm for the Bridal party to pay for a Shower? What happens if they can't pay for it? Do the BM's have to back out?

Re: Bridal Shower
A lot of the times it is all split. The mom is usually involved too!

Re: Bridal Shower
This mom seemed to think that she has to do nothing for the shower other than make a grand entrance.

Re: Bridal Shower
its always different, but it depends on the situation. I find most people split with mom so bridal party pays half, and mom pays half...
But tell her if mom doesnt want to money up then she has NO SAY in what happens with the shower...

How insane is that? You mean your BM obligations were not over after the wedding day?

Re: Bridal Shower
Usually the mom throws it and the bridal party is assinged to one specific thing...like the basket, or the decorations etc...
but its differnet for different people

Re: Bridal Shower
When I was a BM, the MOH (bride's sister) asked for $100 for the shower. When they ask, I mean, how can you not contribute? It's awkward to say you can't pay b/c if you accepted the honor of being a BM, then this is part of the financial responsibility if asked.

Re: Bridal Shower
I know the bridal party really helps with something but, she can only contribute what she can afford

Re: Bridal Shower
My entire bridal party is splitting the expense of my shower and I have done this for many friends and family as well

Re: Bridal Shower
everyone is different. i was in a bridal party were the MIL threw and paid for it all. lol
i think she should let the mom and the rest of the bridal party know she is on very limited funds, that she can help but cant afford as much as others.

Re: Bridal Shower
I always thought it was the bridal party that paid for the shower and if the mother of the bride wants to help out she can too.

Re: Bridal Shower
The bridal party pays for the shower, most of the time the maid of honor and the MOB share the cost if the other BMs can't.

It was the most insane thing ever. I swear. She didn't even get preggars until like 3 years AFTER her wedding and her mother still expected us to pay for the shower.

Re: Bridal Shower
I know for my shower it was split between my mom and BM's, my MOH really coordinated the whole thing, but they all split the cost which was nice. HTH

Re: Bridal Shower
I know my shower is very soon...and I do know that my mom is paying for the full majority. My sisters are also doing their share..one did invites, one favors, etc...they did not want to ask the other girls' to contribute because a few are in college and it gets expensive!!!

Re: Bridal Shower
Every bridal party that I have been in... the BP paid and planned the shower. Once the MOB helped us out a bit with money.... but the rest of the time.. we all had to pay the whole thing
