So, I was told by SEVERAL people that my half of my friends and family are d!cking me over on my bridal shower. I was told that they all have bullsh!t excuses. I really don't understand why people are doing this to me and treating me this way. I really don't even want a bridal shower now to be honest. Just need to vent.

Re: Bridal Shower
So don't have one. We did a small little 'ladies luncheon' and insisted people not buy gifts more than $20. My mom said she wouldn't encourage us to have our hands out and make people buy me things so she wasn't going to have a shower at all, so we compromised because I wanted to spend a lovely afternoon with the ladies. It was wonderful.
Sorry you're disappointed. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. Don't worry about who isn't there -- Just have fun with the people who are. Focus on the positive.

Re: Bridal Shower
I def can't tell my mom to not have this bridal shower because she doesn't even know that I know all of this. She has also been planning the shower for months and it will break her heart. I just feel like people are just shady and make it like they care when they dont't. My FH's sister and stepmother aren't even coming to the shower... I just don't get it. I bend over backwards for everyone in my life and I'm shocked that ppl can't even attempt to be nice.

this is when you realize who your real friends are. I had a similar experience, but in the end I had a great time

Re: Bridal Shower
FH's family doesn't have to be there -- why not just be happy if it's a party for your side of the family. They'll be tons of other happy occasions for you all to celebrate together in the future, including your wedding. I'm sure they'd be there if it was possible. I know it's hard, but try to remain positive about it instead of thinking the worst like they don't care or something.
My step mom missed our luncheon but I didn't take it personally. It's very hard to get that many people together at the same time. They'll be there for your wedding and it will be wonderful.
