for my shower, they got really pretty tea cups at the dollar store ( beleive it or not!) and got some different flavored 'gourmet' tea bags ( raspberry tea, orange tea, etc) and put a few tea bags in each cup with a tag that said ' the perfect blend' with me and dhs names on them.... i thought it was cute, and useful because tea mugs are always breaking and you can always use another one! for my friends shower we got mini terracotta pots at michaels, and a flat of impatiens ( 48 plants for like $12) and planted a plant in a pot for everybody with a tag that said ' growing in love' and the names- they were a big hit, because the shower was in the beginning of spring and everybody was saying they couldn't wait to plant the flower in their garden for the summer... i think anything edible is good too- a cute jar with the ingredients to make something and the recipe, or just a cute cookie or something.. just becaue so many people end up with favors they never use afterwards... BTW- my girls did some great games at mine, so let me know if your looking for stuff like that, too...

Re: Bridal Shower favors
I just made favors for my friend's shower. I bought 4 inch terra cotta pots, sealed them, then painted them white. Then sponge painted one pastel color on the pot. There are 5 different colors, green, yellow, pink, blue and purple. So I have about 10 pots in each color. Then around the lip of the pot, I am going to tie a white ribbon with a tag saying it's her shower on it. I am going to buy some soil, and some flowery plants and put them in the pots.
We are having a 'garden' shower, so the pots will be in the middle of the table making 1 big centerpiece of flowers, then each guest gets to take home part of the centerpiece as the favor.
I don't have pictures yet, they are at FH's house, but they actually came out very very cute. I am so proud of myself!

We did an international kitchen theme so my favors were a pretty plate with chopsticks:

Re: Bridal Shower favors
This was mine: A travel manicure set, from wrapwithus.com, under $2! I just hate favors that sit on a shelf and collect dust.
