I went to a shower and thoguht that this was the sweetest gift ever. They made a basket out of candles of the colors in the poem I will add. Tehy put the poem on beautiful paper.

candle poem

A basket full of candles, that come in a pair.
All different colors for the two of you to share.

White are the first to burn; wrapped in white lace,
To celebrate the first night in your new chosen place.

The green pair are taller and thinner,
They are to burn when your first guests come for dinner.

These are candles to burn for Christmas Eve before bed,
First holiday season now married, that’s why they’re red!

The purple candles are for after your very first fight.
Use them to burn when making up all through the night.

The pink candles will set the mood and pave the way,
For your very first married Saint Valentine’s Day.

Now when your first year of marriage is through,
The cream anniversary pair will shine bright for you.

By this time we hope that maybe, just maybe,
You could burn the maroon ones on the birth of your first baby!

And just when you thought you could put these away,
Take out the blue ones for your fifth anniversary day.

Now just one more pair is left for the big “2-5”,
The silver anniversary pair keeps your love alive.

So congratulations to both of you for the start of your forever,
May the two of you always be very happy together.

Burn these candles just the way I have said,
But please don’t forget to blow them out before bed!

I got my MOH a basket of towels, soap dispensers things like that for all the holidays, Its harder though b/c you have to think ahead but some stores like Kohls and TJMaxx have left overs really cheap!

I got this for Christmas and love it - from things remembered they have the afghans that you can get embroided the couples name/date on it. There are a bunch of different styles and formats to choose from.

Re: bridal shower gifts???

we did the olive oils/dipping cups thing at a recent shower (along with a pasta maker from the registry) - from me and one of my BMs.

Which was a nice way to take something they registered for, and add on to it.

hope it helps :)

The only reason I registered is because I don't want anyone to be creative! JMO. May sound weird but I'm picky and only want what I want.

Re: bridal shower gifts???

I had gotten my friend a wok that was on her registry and then took it out of the box, placed it in a nice rattan basket from Pier 1 and added all the essentials- chopsticks, soy sauce, crunchy noodles and wok cookbook. Then clear wrapped it...it was a big hit!

PS- Save the box to give her

The candle poem is a huge hit at showers I have done that a few times...Go to a party store they are cheaper b/c you end up getting like 18 candles at $2 each it adds up quickly. The long candle sticks work best and tie some ribbon around each..

Another great idea that was done at a friends shower and I copied a few times was making a Ironing Board Bride.
This is the picture of the one at my friends shower but I used the same basic idea and changed it for my sisters.

The head is a Roll of Toilet paper with tule stuffed in the hole as a veil. I actually 'painted' the face on with Sharpie markers and put some blush on the checks.
The Slinky nightie is actually an apron tied in the back. (I used a Kiss the cook one). The arms are made out of dish towels with oven mitts as hands. I used the pouch in the apron to stick untensils in it along. Everything is held together with storage bag clips. Most of the stuff you can get at the dollar store and use the registry for the board, untensils, pot holders.

HUGE HUGE hit at my sisters shower no one ever saw anything like it before.

I can't figure out how to post this a little bigger so you can see the details Sorry.

Re: bridal shower gifts???

I think these ideas were really great. I can't tell you how tired I am of going to showers and having them read those silly poems where they mention household items in the poem and pull out the item like Tide or Tampons.

I thought the candle poem was actually really cute and so was the above post with the household items presented in a different way.

I am registering but hope people will do some creative things for me too

I got from my cousin's children (she really picked it out - they're 4 and 2) a Yankee Candle called 'Wedding Day'. And a ceramic lamp to put over it. Otherwise everything else was on my registry.

For my sisters shower, I gave her this beautiful round hat box that I found and filled it with sexy langerie, perfume, gadiva chocolates, and white silk rose pedals. She loved

Re: bridal shower gifts???

My sister made me a little basket with a whole bunch of kitchen supplies and a cookbook.

Someone else gave me 'foreplay' games.

And someone gave me all the ingredients I could possibly want for a sundae except the ice cream. Of course, the requisite comments came along with it... 'Who said anything aout ice cream?' LOL!!!

Lingerie always goes over well at a shower.

I just bought my FH's cousin a HEART SHAPED white wicker picnic basket. You can search them online.

Shop around though...some websites have them for $100, but I found it as low as $64!

It includes plates, champagne glasses, cheeseboard, napkins & white eyelet picnic blanket, etc...really cute!
