Bridal shower help!

I am a bridesmaid this time! My best friend is getting married in October and I am trying to help with the bridal shower plans. Her mother and sister who are in charge of it are not doing anything that she would want!
I am going to be adding my ideas to the pile, and have it be a little original!

She loves RED and Loves Indian design (like Sari fabric and bindhis and such).

If anyone has any ideas or pictures of Indian/Hindi designed stuff in red please post!

She hates the 'bells and umbrellas' thing...so I thought it could be more fabric and paper lanterns.

I think there's an Indian-style tea place in NYC that could be cool. Also, I don't know how much $$ it is, but if she's into that kind of thing, what about hiring an artist to come in and make those really pretty designs on people's hands and feet? That could be a really fun activity!

Actually, my FMIL went to a 3-day Indian wedding where one of the days all of the women got their hands done (I think its called Mehndi). She had a great time.

glinda_goodwitch is right - it is called Mehndi.
It can be a lot of fun to have an artist at your shower and have her do the designs for the guests. If you know of any Indian beauty salons near you, you can ask the staff there if they know of people who can come to the shower location and do the mehndi.
