I'm having a small wedding and I think I'm going to suggest to my mom and sister (MOH) that I don't want a bridal shower. It seems silly, especially, when I can't see more than 15 people coming to this thing.
How many people have been to small bridal showers? Was it uncomfortable or dumb?
Just trying to realistic here. Your honest opinions are very much appreciated.

Re: Bridal Shower: How small is too small??
If you're going to have a small shower, I think the best thing is to have it at someone's house. Everything is so much more relaxed and intimate. You can even have a bridal shower with just a few people, as long as they are close to you.

I think 15 people is really nice for a cozy, intimate shower!! Like Beth said, I'd keep it at someone's house.

You should have a shower, however small it may be! One of my good friends had a shower and there was only about 10 people there. It was still really nice, Why does it have to be this great big production? XOXOXO Kitty

Unfortunately, no one i know has a house (or an apartment for that matter) that would accomodate this. It would have to be at a restaurant or something. Maybe just a Sunday brunch in a small room of a restaurant?

Oh, it doesn't! I would hate if it were, I'm just trying to figure out if its feasible or a waste of time, effort and money for my mom and sister to do this.
Can you tell me where she had it? Was it at a house or a restaurant?
The other option is to do a Jack and Jill shower. I've been to one and it was nice...but not sure how my FH feels about being dragged to something like this.

I think you should have it even if it's with a small group. I think a lot people invite every woman that it's invited to the wedding and that's not the way it should be. Etiquette does not call for that. Only those close to the Bride and Groom should be invited and their respective close friends and family. If you don't know them personally or haven't spent time with them, they should not be invited. 15 people sounds good and you can keep it intimate and probably have it at someone's home. I had 35 guests at my shower but only close friends, family and close associates were invited. I gave my MOH a list of people that I wanted to be invited and plus she included his family and mine. I could have included many more but I felt that if didn't know them well, then I should not invite them for my Bridal Shower. I think it's pretty tacky inviting people when you haven't formally met them or haven't spent any time with them. Just my opinion. You should let them organize one for you and enjoy it. You will be happy that you did because you got to share some good, happy moments with those you care about.

This sounds pretty nice. There are definitely places you can find that will accomodate this. Good Luck !

i don't think a shower could ever be too small. My shower was about 30 ppl but at one point, we were going to cancel the real shower (thank you FMIL for ruining it!) and we were going to do something - bridesmaids only, which was six ppl plus me at a friend's house.

Re: Bridal Shower: How small is too small??
I had a really small shower (10 people) so I know how you feel. At first, I was a little sad that it would be so few people (a lot of friends live far OOT) and felt like it wasn't worth the effort for such a small crowd. BUT, it ended up being a really fun time because everyone there knew me really well and was very close to me. We had the shower at a really cute tea salon in NYC called Lady Mendl's and the room was just the perfect size. You should definitely have a shower. I really would have regretted not having that part of the wedding 'process.' Good luck!!

There's no such thing as too small!
You could do something like an afternoon tea, that would be super cute!

definitely have one..i didn't have one b/c no one thought to do it...it hurts...even if it had been 5 of FMIL's friends, it would've been better than no shower at all.

Have one! You may be overwhelmed with so much wedding stuff going on and you think it doesn't matter if you skip it but I think it'll be something nice to look back on, no matter how many people attend. Maybe a small get together at a winery, or restaraunt on the water, or somewhere you can sit outside if the weather's nice. I think you'll have more options for what to do since it's a smaller crowd.

Thanks so much ladies...I'm going to look up a few of your suggestions (Lady Mendl's sounds great!) and talk to my mom about it.
I was throwing a hell of a pity party this morning for myself and you've cheered me up a lot. Thank you!!!
