My best friend is getting married and we are having issues with the sisters of the bride. They are terrible. Anyway...I am pretty much taking over because they are pissing me off and I need a good idea for a theme, favors, centerpieces, etc. Her sisters already got invites but I am trying to think of something super fun and original for her shower. Now, most of you have had your showers and I am interested in what themes you had. Any fun, different centerpieces? What was the best favor you received?
Thanks for your help!

I had bamboo plants that were the centerpieces, and they were also the favors. My colors were green and pink, the plants were tied with pink ribbons that said 'Amanda's Shower June 22, 2008'. I loved it! As for theme...I really didn't have a theme. It really was just a great group of women having a great time.

I went to a tea house for a shower and loved it. It was like a tea party with scones, salads, finger sandwitches and awesome deserts.

I had a cocktail party for my shower. My Mom and Sister made the centerpeices out of giant margarita glasses and put candles and m&m's in them. The signature drink was a lemon berry mojito. They had it a little later in the evening. It was so fun. We also made it a 'green' shower by putting on the invites 'save the trees no gift wrapping please'.

The favors for my shower were 2 glass coasters, the kind you can slip a photo in. Instead of putting pictures in each I bought pretty scrapbooking paper at michaels in my shower colors and cut it into small squares and slid it into each coaster. Each guest got 2 coasters, one with a paisley print and one with a stripe print. They could keep the pretty paper inside or replace it with a picture if they wanted to.
We got lots of complements from guests. My mom and I always like when we get something practical.
These are the ones we purchased: http://www.americanbridal.com/coasters-favors-ka27011na.html
Best of luck- FM me if I can be of any further assistance

Re: Bridal Shower Ideas needed - I'm desperate
Well, I am having a shower for my FSIL this weekend. She is having a black and white wedding w/ accents of tiffany blue. After sending out all the invites, I thought that having a 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' theme would be really cute, but it was too late. Here is what I did/am doing:
FSIL doesn't cook much (my brother does most of the cooking.), so I sent recipe cards out with the invites. Guests will fill out their favorite recipe for the bride...and hopefully it will get her starting to cook, lol. I also made a towel cake that came out sooo cute. It's all white towels w/ tiffanys blue ribbons going around it. I also put some bath and body works sample bottles in between the grooves (liquids in a greenish/blue color). Then, I am going to top it with a lufah (sp?). I created a basket of candles since the bride loves candles. I am going to attach this poem to it.
A Basket of Candles for ____
A basket of candles that come in a pair In all different colors, for you two to share The white ones burn first They are wrapped in white lace To celebrate your first married night In your new chosen place. The green pair is taller, and also much thinner Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner. The dark blue candles are for after your first fight Use them to burn while making up all night. Pink candles set the mood and pave the way For your first married Valentine’s Day. Now, when your first year of marriage is through The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two. Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might. By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby. And just when you thought you’d put these away Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day. Now just one more pair left - for the big 2 5 The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive. Congratulations ____ and _____ On the start of your forever May the two of you always be happy together And burn these candles Just the way we said But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!
For games...I am asking my brother (ooooh, that reminds me...i have to ask him today!!!) questions about him or the bride. At the shower, when the bride opens a present...she will tell everyone whose present it is, that person will read of a question that was asked to my brother. If the bride answers correctly, the guest whose present she opened wins a prize. I am going to do this for each guest (since there will only be 15). I am going to ask my FSIL 3 questions at the shower that my brother will have to answer. If he gets it right...he will win a gift from me that HE likes, lol.
We are giving luggage tags as favors since it's an out of state wedding. I also got mint tins.
That's about it. And of course we are decorating in mostly white, some black, and hints of tiffanys blue. Hope this helped!!!

Re: Bridal Shower Ideas needed - I'm desperate
The shower I am going to this weekend is called 'around the clock'. The MOH specified a time for each person, and they have to give a gift associated with that time. I got 3 am. Most people would give something a little naughty, but with her mom and aunts being there, I am not.
I am giving a frying pan. My reasoning - if you are up that early you want an omlette. Or there is an intruder and it makes a good weapon. Or FH is just coming home drunk and you are mad.
