bridal shower question

bridal shower question

I am throwing a bridal shower for a friend - there are other BM's involved...although I was recently married - I never threw a bridal shower - and neither have any of the other girls...

We are trying to figure out how much to chip in - then decide based on the money what we can do.

Some girls are offering $50 - I am thinking that is not enough - but I really dont know.

So my question to you is - how much have you chipped in for bridal showers in the past?

(if you dont mind sharing) TIA

Re: bridal shower question

For a gift or for the whole party? I have only been to showers in homes, so it shouldn't cost that much--I would imagine $200 would cover food and decorations for 20 people or so.
ETA: Depends on food, whether it is catered or not...

How much did you chip in for the party - meaning how much should i expect from the other BM's to chip in?

are you having it at a house or a restaurant? restuarant can be about 20 per person plus tax and gratuity so in the end 30 a person

25 people*30 per person = 750 divided by how many brides maids or how many people are chipping in. im sure her mother and family will chip in, no? Im pretty sure the mom and aunts will help , then the rest can be split amongst the bridesmaids.

I am planning one now and we are planning first, then collecting $ after. Between 7 people we estimated about $150-$200 a person.

For my shower, all the girls helped and instead of dividing the bill, they all just took responsibility for different things.

We just had one for a friend. When I asked what I could do, I was told by the MOH that I was only a BM and this was being given by her. (Her's was the only name that appeared on the invitation)

The day of we were told the balance of the bill was $500 and we (the 3 BM's) had to divide it.

For mine the girls chipped in $120 each. That was in '03. I am in a BP now and we are planning one and we are all chipping in $250 which is inclusive of the gift. I personally thought that was a little high, but in asking around it seems normal.

The last BP I was in - there were five of us -we had her shower at a resturant, and we each chipped in about $300, depending on who paid for what (included gift, resturant bill, decorations). Like the other posts mentioned, it all depends on where you're having it, is it catered, what type of gift are you gettin her, etc. Bottom line, it's going to be expensive!!
