My friend is in a BP and told me that she and the other girls are all paying for the invitations and favors for the shower. I have never heard of this before, nor did I expect it. Has anyone else heard of this?

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
I know this is done a lot of times out of state. My best friend is getting married on Saturday in PA and the BMs paid for the shower from soup to nuts.
I've heard mostly in NY though that moms pay for the shower, but everyone is different.

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
My mom is paying for the shower, favors, and all of that stuff. I think my MOH is ordering/paying for the invites & they may be ordering a special cake. Majority is pretty much my mom.

that's what I thought! Especially since they spend so much being in the BPalready! They're even paying for everything for her for the Bachelorette Party.. I just didn't expect anyone to pay for anything. I was confused when I heard this all.

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
I have done this for every shower I've been to. I've always paid. I think my girls expect to help my mom pay also....and here I am thinking that is normal.

Aww that is really nice! I have never been in a BP recently just one when I was 17 and I had no clue..but I didn't pay for any of it back then. I just feel bad for everything lol it's like a genetic disorder lol I don't like to make anyone spend $ lol

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
I think that is pretty standard.Unless the mother wants to pitch in to help out the bridesmaids they are suppose to pay for the shower.
ETA
The last two showers I threw the mom paid for the restaurant but we paid for eveyrthing else and we threw the Bach party. Probably spend like $500 at each if not more.

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
BP is supposed to host the shower b/c etiquette-wise, a mom wasn't supposed to host a shower since it is asking for gifts. (shower gifts are required, where wedding gifts are not)
Moms seem to host often these days, time's changing!! But I think your BMs would have expected to contribute to it when they said YES to being your BM! Don't worry!!

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
if there is one thing I have learned for the many BPs I have been in, every shower and situation is different. There have been times the mom took care of everything, times where I had to chip in some money, and times where the BP paid for the entire shower.
I know for my shower, my mom is throwing it for me and is not expecting my girls to put in money toward anything. She said that they can take care of fun stuff like decorations and the games if they want but she does not want money for anything else because she wants to do this for me.

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
Almost every Bridal party I have been in the bridal party helps but the mother of the bride pays for the party. Who can afford to pay for someone's bridal shower when you are in the bridal party? IMO its alot to ask unless there is no parents to help or for some other personal reason.
The bridal party is usually responsible for the decorations, bridal shower games and prizes and then everyone chips in for an expensive gift off the registry. I think its alot to ask the bridal party to pay..
I told my mother she better not do that to my girls.
My mom will be in charge of the invites and do the inviting and stuff, coordinate the place and food.
The bridal party pays for the bachelorette party everyone chips in for that. They are paying for there dress and everything leading up to that point..

Re: Bridal Shower Question..
FSIL just got married on Friday. Congrats Kev and Meg!!! Anyway, we paid for favors and invites and her mom paid for the shower itself. But I have heard of the bridal party paying for everything. I don't think it is that uncommon.
