I alwasy thought it was the MOH and the bridal party that had to cover the bridal shower.

For me it was my mom and my MOH who takes care of it.

I think it all depends. My friend's mom is hosting mine. I would never ask someone in my bridal party to pay for it. I personally think it is too much money to have them pay. Maybe your mom and FMIL can split it.

I totally agree with you. My mom is hosting mine and not asking my BP to put in a cent. I'm asking for friend..

Re: Bridal shower question.. HELP

i've heard it a few ways, mom pays or bridal party pays, or mom, fmil, and bp chip in...i know my moh and bm (both my sisters) are paying for most of mine, with very little help from other bms (my mom doesn't have $ to contribute). i am in my brother's wedding party and his fi's sister (her moh) called me to ask for $250 to contribute to her shower, which in my opinion, was rude. i wouldn't want my sister (my moh) to call one of my bm's and say 'you owe $250 for the shower', rather, she asked them what they could contribute or what they want to be in charge of. needless to say i am not contributing the $250, i told her i can give $100 and reminded her that i am getting married 2 short months after her sister (her bm dress was $250 plus $60 in alt, plus shoes, hair, shower gift, wedding gift...it is expensive to be a bm!) anyways, i think if mom and fmil can help in anyway, its a nice gesture. ~lacey

I told my BP to ask my Mother and sisters for help. If they do what we did for my sister in law, they paid for the decorations and favors. The BP paid for the food with a decent contribution from my mother. I see that mothers help more often than not - especially when the BP is young and may not have the means to throw an elaborate party.

My mom paid for and hosted mine. I only had one attendant, and she is in school, so she couldn't afford to pay for it.

It depends on the family and financial situation. My mother did everything for mine, but some families stick to 'etiquette' or 'tradition' and the bridal party pays for it.

But, I've also heard of situations where the BP put it all together and when it came time to pay, they all cried broke the the MOB had to pay for it at the last minute.

My FMIL says that when she was married that the bridal party paid, but I think nowadays it depends. I know my mom ans sisters are probably going to throw mine
