For those of you who already had your showers, (or for showers you have attended), a few questions:
1. How many people were invited to your wedding? (or how many women at the shower?) 2. Did you get to eat before present time began? 3. How long were you opening presents? 4. Did you actually have time to enjoy yourself? 5. Did everyone high-tail it out of there after presents were over?
I ask because in my family, showers tend to go on and on and on. I don't mind being the center of attention and opening presents. But so many of them have seemed to be rushed because if the bride didn't open the presents right away, they would go really long.
She barely had time to greet everyone and eat a 1/4 of a plate of food before the endless opening of presents.

Re: Bridal shower questions
1. How many people were invited to your wedding? 250 invited to the wedding (or how many women at the shower?) 50 women at my Boston shower, 60 invited to my NY shower...Not all the women invited to the wedding were invited to the showers
2. Did you get to eat before present time began? We ate right after I arrived, but before the presents.
3. How long were you opening presents? I was really quick with my presents (and everyone thanked me). I think it took about 45 minutes. The key was having my BMs do a little assembly line with one of them handing me the gifts, one of them putting them back in the boxes, etc.
4. Did you actually have time to enjoy yourself? Not reallly...If I could do it over again, I would've spent more time mingling before I opened the presents...And I never got any cake!!! They ate the cake while I was opening presents and they didn't save me a piece!!!
5. Did everyone high-tail it out of there after presents were over? Yep...People started leaving after I went around and thanked them individually...

Re: Bridal shower questions
1) there were about 25 people at my shower... we had a pretty small wedding- only 120 came to the wedding 2)yup- we had finger sandwiches and stuff, so i got to eat before we did gifts, but i was too excited/overwhelmed that i didn't eat much.. 3)since there were only about 25 people at the shower, it only took me maybe an hour to open all the gifts 4)yup! definitely enjoyed myself! it was a small shower at my aunts house, so it was laid back and intimate. they came up with some really cute games, etc- it was great! 5)well, one my my BMs left WHILE i was opening presents the rest of the people didn leave right away... my girls had made a video with DH, like a newlywed game type thing where they got him to answer questions about me and our relationship. after presents, we all watched it- they asked me the question, then play his answer on the video to see if we came up with the same thing.... then, after that, we had cake

Yes--got to mingle in beginning and eat and chat and I made rounds after the presents to talk to people.

Re: Bridal shower questions
1. There were about 35 women at my shower. Not even close to half the amount of women invited. (I wanted a small shower. I would have gone smaller)
2. I ate an appetizer, salad and entree before opening presents. It's my shower. 'It's all about me'.
3. I opened presents quickly., so probably at most 45 minutes. I hate watching people opening presents, so I assume people really don't want to watch me open presents. I also requested that cake be served right before I opened presents so that guests could eat their cake while I was opening my presents.
4. I had a blast. You need to enjoy yourself. Find time to sit back just like you have to do it at your wedding. I walked around and talked to every table.
