My MOH wants me to have a BS, and although I think it could be fun... here are reasons why I don't want one:
1. My FH and I already live together (2yrs) and our place is completely furnished.
2. I don't want any cheap guest skimping out on $$$ given at the reception, just b/c they gave me a piece of lingerie...
Does that sound too bridezilla'ish... lol...

Bridezilla-ish no! However, if you MOH wants to throw one... go for it. Even after 2 yrs I am sure you could use a couple of new things. As for the $$ part...I have never skimped on a wedding gift because of a shower....bachelorette party or anything else

I think you should do whatever you want. If your place is furnished, it is difficult to have a bridal shower, so do whatever suits you.

You should have one. You can always use bedding and towels. And in my experience if a bride has already set up housekeeping I usually give either money or a gift card for Macys.

I think you should, if she wants to throw you one why not! You might regret it later that you turned down a shower.

ita!
wasn't going to have an engagement party but the regret factor kicked in. you're only supposed to be doing this once (technically :D)

Have one! FH and I registered for a honeymoon since we live together...but we'll probably go to BBB for a few items as well. You deserve one..and should celebrate and let your MOH do it for you.

Re: Bridal Shower - Should/Shouldn
FH and I have been living together for over 2 years now, and I'm still having one. Almost all of our stuff was hand-me-downs, so we registered for all new and better things. New plates, silverware, china & crystal (which I didn't have), new pots & pans, cookware, etc.
Also, I don't think people will skimp on wedding gifts because of buying you a shower gift. I know I never do. Most people expect you to have a shower.
But I do agree with Christine that you should do whatever you feel like.

FH and I live together too and we really don't need anything but it's hopefully a once in a lifetime party to celebrate YOU!!!

Re: Bridal Shower - Should/Shouldn
you can register for new and better stuff. or now you can even do a honeymoon registry. Noone is going to skimp out on money for the wedding if they buy you a present. You only live once why not live it up.

Re: Bridal Shower - Should/Shouldn
i live with my fh but we registered for stuff for when we have a house and have more rooms to fill and for things we want updated and prob wouldnt do ourselves. like we registered for king sheets, etc. cuz we plan to upgrade to a king instead of a king. we registered for nicer newer plates, wedding stuff like nice frames for our wedding pics, etc.
i dont think people will skimp on a wedding gift cuz of the shower, bridal showers are expected these days by people. and i think if someone thought they couldnt afford both, they would rsvp 'no' to the shower.

Re: Bridal Shower - Should/Shouldn
the majority of people know that a bridal shower comes along with a wedding.
my FH & i have been living together for 3 years, so we registered for new everyday dishes, fine china, flatware, glass ware, new towels, wine cellar, new bedding. (just some ideas)

I think you should have one. I have never skimped on a wedding gift because of a shower. I think a shower is a good way to celebrate with your family and friends. People that dont want to spend the money can always say no.
