Could anyone please tell me when you usually have a bridal shower? How many months b4 your wedding?
Also, we are getting married in March, but if we were gonna have it at someone's house/backyard during very end of summer is that too soon? So figure, End of Aug till March.
How far in advance do you register for gifts? I've read a few diff thing in magazines so I figured I'd ask here! So mags said right away, some said a yr out...

i will be having my shower sometime in january...it wont get to be outside but i felt that august/september of this year would be too soon.
i wont be having an e-party so i will register in september, because the stores usually bring new fall items in. if you register early there is a chance some items will be discontinued.

Bridal showers are generally 1 to 2 months before the wedding. I have heard of others doing them further out though.

u can have your shower whenever you want, i dont think there is a protocal to when you can have it. I'm having my shower the saturday before my wedding (my wedding is on a holiday weekend) because alot of my friends and bridal party are coming in from out of town and i want them to be a part of my day. But i have been to showers that were thrown 2 months before the wedding. For my friend who got married in March we threw her shower in december. So its really up to you

I think I've read anytime within 6 months of the wedding
We had mine at the end of February for my June 25 wedding
We registered in September 2010. Only one of our items was discontinued

My bridal shower was at the end of January (so a little less than 5 months before).
ETA: since my shower was a surprise, I didn't want to look at the registries after they were done for fear I would see gifts being purchased and think the shower was coming. My mom told me the registries need to be done by the end of September so that's what I did.

I think they are supposed to be 1-2 months before the wedding. Having one in august for a march wedding seems way too soon. Maybe have an e-party if you want to do something over the summer? And have your shower in Jan. It is never too early to register! We registered a few months after getting engaged and are still getting gifts from people as engagement gifts. Just be sure to update it often since items will discontinue
My wedding is in August, my shower is in June and my bachelorette is in July...seemed like the perfect time-line to me

my showers are in June and August (one for each side of the family), and I am getting married in October. We registered last month.
