Bridal shower: yes or no

Here is my dilemma....

I bought a house a few years ago and FH and I have been living together for two years. We need absolutely nothing house related so I feel that having a shower would be pointless because I don't want to wind up with a random household items that we will never use. People have suggested that I register at www.honeyfund.com but I feel that I am inviting people to a party and asking them to donate only money to our honeymoon and I don't feel comfortable doing that... Thoughts?

Bridal shower: yes or no

I recently helped throw a keepsake themed shower. The bride was in the same situation so she didn't want to register. We just included a poem with the invites that said 'We would like to shower (brides name) in our own special way, so we ask that you bring a keepsake to honor their big day. No need for fine china or a new set of pots, just something to say best wishes and we love you lots!' It worked out for the most part- bridal party bought things like the cake topper and bridal hanger and guests brought some cute items. You could also include info about the honeyfund too if you wanted. Be prepared for a lot of photo frames but it was a great way not to lose the experience of having a shower and some of the gifts were really thoughtful and creative.
