Bridal Shower...(long vent)

Bridal Shower...(long vent)

My bridal shower is on June 12th ( my mom asked me when arranging it if I wanted to know.) I have 7 girls in my bridal party, 2 being MOH. My mom is paying for the shower including the favors and wishing well. The only girls who really are helping is my sister and a friend. My other MOH has had 4 family members enter the hospital this past week and one passed a way. I don't expect her to help right now. Some people said if you need anything call. I feel like that means, try not to bother me...lol.

I know everyone in the BP is spending money on the dress and all the other expenses. I am not really talking about the money of the shower, it's the help. I don't thinkt they should come to the shower just as another guest, am I wrong for feeling this way?

I don't think you're wrong. My sister, MOH, is going to plan my shower with the rest of the girls in the bridal party. I will be very upset if I find out that some of them were uninvolved while others busted their butts to make it happen.

Danielle,

While the other BM's should probably ask your mom 'what can I do to help'...the fact that they said 'if you need anything call me' also means that they are willing to help. At least that's what it means when I hear it.

I don't think that it would be an imposition for your mom or sister to call and ask these girls to help. Maybe they feel weird because your mom is already paying for everything? Like they don't know if they should be offering to help?? I'm sure they are not being unhelpful on purpose.

And you'll have a great shower

you are not wrong to feel the way you do.
My mother asked my bridal party to contribute to my shower. They should make some sort of financial contribution.

I understand what you mean, I just feel bad that my mom is doing everything. It's hard for my sister b/c she has a 29 month old and twin 10 month olds.

I'm sure that your bp will want to be involved and help out during the day!

Does your mom wnat to be doing most of it?

I was a Bridesmaid once & no one even told me the date, until I got the invitation.

if yor mom wants help then i wouldn't hesitate to call the people who said if you need anything call. i have been to showers before that i didn't help with. but i dont really know i guess its up to you. if your mom says she doesn't need help then just invite everyone. good luck

Is your mom saying she needs help? Or is she shy about asking? The other girls said they are available if she needs help, maybe the MOH or other friend helping can reach out to them?

But, why are you involved in this type of detail? I know you said you wanted to know the date but I think that should relieve you of every other aspect of planning the shower.

For the bridal parties I have been in all of the bridesmaids have taken some type of role. Are you bridesmaids friends or do they come from every area of your life because that could make a difference. I think your mom should aske them or maybe assign them each a different task. I hope all works out and you enjoy your special day.

Holy cow that's alot to handle! I would ask your sister (I'm assuming she's a MOH) to call and tell the girls she needs help!!!

i'd be upset too. esp with your sister having 2 young kids and im sure your mom would like to be focusing more on the actual wedding not just the shower.

i had a similar situation but it was 2 of my cousins (although one if young and in LA so I can understand that) who refused to even respond to emails and phone calls about the shower. My cousin has been nothing but a bother to me too like with picking the dress and its horrible but i really dont even want to speak to her let alone have her in my wedding now!

just make sure to get those you know did help an extra special thank you and maybe an extra special gift.

Well IMO- it's not always the case that the bridal party assists...I know for my shower, it'll be my mom and my sister planning things....however what I expect from my bridal party the day of....to pass the boxes the to me, one is putting away the ripped wrapping paper, one is writing down what I have received and from who....and etc....those types of things....
