Bridal Showers 101

I am my sister's MOH and I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. I am planning and paying for the bridal shower on my own and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for affordable brunches in Western Suffolk County. Approximately 60 people.

Also is there a book out there to help me figure out exactely what I should be doing? I just want everything to be perfect for my sister.

Re: Bridal Showers 101

Can't suggest any locations but there are many books on this subject.

Essentially a bridal shower is made up of:

Greeting (1/2 hour before the bride arrives)
Surprise (when the bride walks in)
Mingling (for another 1/2 for the bride to say hello to everyone)
Eating
Opening gifts (good to play some games here to keep guests entertained)
Cake/Dessert
Goodbye

I just had my shower and MOH did a great job by keeping with a theme. If you have a theme in mind, it will help you pick out things like invites, favors, decor, etc.. without having too many conflicting concepts.

A great site I used when I was a MOH a few years back. Feel free to ask questions here. As well as being a bride I have been in many bridal showers and always willing to give advice.

Re: Bridal Showers 101

What's your budget? I just had FSIL's baby shower at Sweetwaters in Hauppauge. they have a website --> www.sweetwaters.net They did an AWESOME job. Another shower i went to was at the Garden grill in Smithtown - the restaurant is in an old house, its so charming. Also for brunch in Northport there's Glads and La Casa - at Crab Meadow. Then there's huntington village .... can you tell I've done this a few times??? Feel free to email me for more info --- [email protected]

=) Lea
