Hello ladies. IThis is an xpost, but I'm really looking for advice from newlyweds. Have any of you gotten married at the RH and did pictures AFTER the ceremony? I keep going back and forth with this.
I am considering taking pictures AFTER the ceremony during the cocktail hour, and making it a one and a half hour cocktail hour (my RH will not charge extra for it). FH and I are planning to miss the cocktail hour, so that is not a big deal.
Then, taking formal portraits w/ family during the salad portion of the reception.
I know this seems a little crazy, but my family is giving me a REALLY hard time about seeing FH before the ceremony. Plus I'm not entirely comfortable with it.
So, anyone who did this, please let me know how it turned out. THANK YOU!

Re: Bride Crashing - NEED HELP!
That's great that your RH isn't charging you for the extra half hour But, practically speaking, I think the timing will be very, very tight if you don't do any pics before your ceremony...we did pics before and it took about 2 hours...you don't want to be stressed out (and stress your BP and family) by making them miss CH and also part of your own reception, because you 'have' to get pics done. You are not going to want to miss any part of your reception...trust me, you will be happy to get the pics out of the way before your CH and you will be happy you did so you can enjoy the rest of your day And if your parents are upset, remember that it's your and FH's wedding...you will still get those precious 'first look' pics but even better they will be close up. JMHO!!!

The pictures take forever, I am not exaggerating. We did pictures before and after the ceremony, had an hour and a half cocktail hour (which we barely made it to) so I would say try and do them before. As fast as you think you can get them done, you just cant. You need to gather everyone together, take portraits with just the parents, just the grandparents, just the in-laws, just the brothers and sisters...trust me on this, there is no fast way around it so just keep that in mind when making your decision!

Also you have plenty of time to decide, so just weigh your pros and cons!
We would have loved to not see eachother beforehand but photography was very important to me and I wanted to take advantage of all the wonderful spots at my RH and in order to do that we had to do it beforehand. It did not take away from the 'specialness' of the day at all! We both cried at our reveal and again when I walked down the aisle.
Also I kept it a secret from everyone (friends and family)

I got married at my hall, but we did pics before. we didn't want to miss the cocktail hour. There is so much dancing oing on during the reception and we didn't have a reception line, so we felt cocktail hour was the best time to say hello to everyone! do what works best for you.

Re: Bride Crashing - NEED HELP!
I got married in a church and had a 3 hour gap, but between leaving the church, riding out to the RH we only had an 1hour and 1/2 for pictures. We didn't got to cocktail because we took pictures almost the entire time, and than we stole a few minutes alone in the bridal sweet to just relax before the party.
Do what you think you want to do, the day goes by so fast, enjoy every moment of it. Your family will understand.
