Bride / FIL and Groom / MIL dance

Has anyone ever heard of this? Apparently my FFIL wants a dance with me, and they (FFIL and FMIL) would like my FH to dance with my mom??

I have never heard of it being announced. I have seen the Bride dance with her FIL and Groom dance with his MIL during the night but not have a special song played for it.

I have never seen it done and announced but hey why not!!! I am doing a mother-daughter dance and having it announced.

He wants a spotlight type dance? I think it is very nice that he wants to dance with you. I would probably not do it right after dancing with my dad, but you could do it after cake cutting maybe. Or else I would just dance with him at some point during the night and not make it an 'us' only dance.

I've never heard of it either. It is very nice but do you think it might take away from you dancing with your Dad? Ya know what I mean? Maybe you can do it during the night as an 'Inlaw dance' (lol)Instead of spotlighting it with just you and your father-in law.

I think after the cake cutting sounds like a good idea, and that both dances are together

Now can anyone suggest a song that would cover both?

We are actually doing this. Somehow dancing with our parents wasnt a HUGE thing, so we decided to spilt the song in half, the first half I will dance with my Dad and then the second half with my FIL. Same thing with my Fi, first his mom and then my mom. This way no parent is left out!.........and honestly when I go to a wedding, the father/daughter dance seems to long and drawn out IMHO. so this was a good comprimise for us!

I think having four announced songs (one w/ your father and fil and you fh with his mom and mil) is too much. Your guests will get bored and it would take too much time up. Either split a song (which I don't like b/c it would take away from your song with your dad) or don't announce them, but dance to a requested song. In the end though, it doesn't really matter too much - so do what makes you happy!
