bridemaid dress question/vent

my sister is 4 months pregnant and due in june (i'm getting married in august). I've been trying to get her to go and try on the BM dress before she started to show since she'll probably be close to her normal size by august. We're not ordering the dresses till march. But the problem is she just started to show. so now what do i do? i keep telling her to go to go try the dress on now before she gets any bigger, but she refuses. she says she waiting till march. so that was my vent and now here is my question-what size does she order???? her pre-prego size or 2 or 3 sizes bigger???

I'd say to order a few sizes larger, since the dresses can always be made smaller! (can't exactly make them bigger)

one of my BMS is pregnant and she ordered her pre-pregnant size and one up. they tend to run large, and it also depends on how much weight your sis gains....is she tiny to begin with? is she healthy while being pregnant? does she over indulge? all those factors could lead to how wuickly or slowly the weight will come off post-baby.....good luck!!

i agree! one of my BM thinks she'll be pregnant for my wedding. she ordered her normal size and the seamstress said they can just add material to her stomach.

I know what you are going through! I am in almost the exact same situation. My sister is Due June 1st, Wedding September 1st and within the last two weeks she 'popped'. She knows her approximate measurements now, and will give those to the seamstress and order at least one size bigger. You can always downsize. Worst case, if she's your MOH, then she can get a similar dress as the girls afterwards off the rack...

I would go with a size or two bigger.

It's a lot easier to take it in, not SO easy to take out.

Very true. It can always be altered. But here is my question...why doesnt she want to start looking now?

I'd probably say measure her now since she just started showing. At least that will give you a point of reference. With bridal dresses you cannot go according to size because each designer has different sizes. It's according to measurement.

Sisters are amazing and yet so annoying at the same time

I would order 2 or 3 sizes bigger than her pre-prego size. 2 months is NOT a lot of time to lose the baby weight.

You don't want her stressing out that & possibly not fitting into the dress. It'll cause more stress later on.

My sister was like 4-5 months pregnant when we did dress fittings... i believe they just measured her what she was at that point. She definitely had a bit of a belly. I'd just listen to what the salesperson says... they know what to do..they deal with this stuff all the time.

I'd have her order a few sizes bigger just in case she doesn't loose the weight. You can take a dress in, but you cant create extra fabric out of nowhere!

I would prob order 2 sizes bigger... even if she loses all her weight, her boobs may stay bigger so you may have a prob zipping the top up.

My SIL was 6 months pregnant when we ordered our dresses, they just measured her and did some sort of wierd formula. Don't worry, they know what to do at the shop!

See how long it will take to order the dress. When i went ( i am getting the same dress) they said less then 2 months....so maybe you can wait till after she has the baby

How do you know what size she'll be in August? A lot of women don't lose the weight as quickly as they hope. If you order the dress too small it may very well not fit and be a waste of money. You can always take a dress in, you usually can't let it out. I actually think she's being smart, she's waiting to see how much weight she's putting on. Let her choose what size to order.
