Bridemaids living in another country....(repost from 07)....

How are you girls handling if you have bridemaids that live in another country? I have been on the fence about asking FBIL's fiance to be in the BP (we have gotten really close), but we just found out last night that they are officially moving to Sweden which is where she is from. If I decide to ask her to be a BM, how do I go about getting her measured and what not? TIA

One of my BMs lives in London. Luckily it's pretty easy to get flights into JFK from there. I understand that she probably won't be at my shower or b-party, but I'm just happy that she'll be able to be at the wedding. My plan right now is to order the dresses off of netbride and just send them to the girls individually.

Sorry - I missed your original question. They can get measured by any seamstress just email you the measurements. When I ship her the dress she'll just get it altered in London.

My sister/BM was living in Germany last year. I asaked her just to send me her measurements which never happened....She is a bit smaller then me so I ordered one size down of what the shop would have ordered me (turned out that the dress fit me perfectly and hers needed a lot of alterations).

I also placed the order 9 months before the wedding so the dress would be in in time to mail it to her for alterations...

well long story short, the dress came in three weeks before wedding so she got it altered the day before the wedding (not at the bridal shop but the cleaners and it was perfect).
