brides getting married at your venue

brides getting married at your venue

So I'm almost done designing my invitations and I'm hearing mixed things about what time to put for the ceremony. I'm getting married promptly at 6:30. I've had people say:

A) Put 6:00 to avoid late comers
B) Put 6:15 so it's not TOO much earlier than the real time
C) Put 6:30 because you don't want people hanging around for a half hour if you put 6. People should know to come on time.

I have no idea what to do! What rule of thumb is everyone using?

I'm putting the exact time. I feel like, if they don't get there on time, they're the ones who miss out, not me.

I'm not getting married at my (our!) venue, but I think your best bet is to put the actual time. I actually get pretty peeved when people lie about the start time. If people are going to be late, that's their problem-I'd treat them like adults and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'd maybe make note on your wedding website that the ceremony begins promptly at 6:30 and that the venue will be serving light refreshments for those that come early, that way there's more of an incentive!

I was told to put 7. But in reality we'll most likely start at 720ish. My cocktail hour starts at 8 so my BM said it really all depends on how long my ceremony will be. She said cocktail hr may start a little earlier if need be but that's ok. I'm figuring a 20 minute ceremony.

O think I'm going to put the actual start time-
Bc we r shuttling most of our guests from the hotel-(these r the ones I would be worried about getting there on time to begin w) so one of my docs is going to be at te hotel making sure everyone gets on the shuttle

Our ceremony starts at 7:00 and I put 6:30 on the invitation. That's what our venue recommended.

Our ceremony starts at 4:30pm but there is a hospitality with some food starting at 4 so I may put 4pm ..

People will definitely be late!!!! If ceremony is 6:30, then put 6! Much better to have some people waiting rather than have others walk into your ceremony after it's already started.

I am having a day wedding. Ceremony at 11:30 but we are taking the photos before so I will likely put 11:30 to avoid anyone seeing me in my dress.

I put the ceremony time on the invitation. Our venue will provide champagne and light refreshments in the foyer prior to the start of the ceremony starting at 3pm. We start the ceremony at 3:30. Knowing my family, they'll start to arrive at 3. Not sure about FH's side.

I think you should put 6 because when I visited cb I saw that they had a pianist in the lobby and some cookies therefore ur guests won't be waiting around without any sort of entertainment and 30min isn't a long time

My ceremony starts at 6:30 and my venue does hospitality starting at 6, so I will do 6. That way people can grab a little snack, greet each other, and be seated prior to ceremony start time.

WM recommended a half hr early and they're going to do hospitality at that time. I'd recommend a half hr early bc as much as these girls are saying it's not your problem if ppl are late... It is your problem bc it'll interrupt your ceremony.

Our venue told us to put 6pm for a 6:30 ceremony time

I put 7 for a 7:30 ceremony. they have a hospitality thing going on for early arrivals. we showed up at my girl's wedding in Oct early and we definitely weren't bored hanging in the lobby. we just took fun pics and drank some champagne.

I put the exact time cause I was reading the fine print on the contract for my venue, and it clearly said that I had to put the correct start time.

I put the correct start time, but then again we have a full hour for ceremony but not having a long one so we do have wiggle time if guests are late. I didn't want my guests there and 'in the way' too early since I am getting ready at the venue and doing a reveal there before hand too. If guests are late they will miss out and maybe learn their lesson for next time! lol
