brides getting married in a church: when did you schedule the rehearsal?

brides getting married in a church: when did you schedule the rehearsal?

My wedding's less than 3 months away. I want to get my RD invites printed, but I don't have a rehearsal scheduled with the church yet.

Do you think it's too early to call to schedule the rehearsal? I called about a month ago, but they told me I had to talk to this particular couple. Since they were the couple running my pre-cana, I asked them when we did pre-cana. They told me to call the rectory and they will get in touch with the couple who runs that ministry. I was like, 'Uh, the rectory told me to talk to you!'

Ugh. I have to call the church anyway. I just want to make sure I'm not out of line expecting to be able to schedule my rehearsal this far in advance. (I also want to request a particular singer, etc.)

We scheduled ours in the beginning of January for our early Nov. wedding, so I definitely don't think that it's out of line for you to firm up your details with them now. I'd keep calling them - you'll feel a lot better when you finally have an answer

Thanks. I keep feeling like the woman who works in the rectory has no idea what she's talking about, and she can be quite rude.

This is so annoying -- b/c this is otherwise a really lovely parish. I've been a member my whole life and my parents have been members for 40 years. It would be nice to at least be treated nicely when I call. If I get the runaround AGAIN today, I plan to go straight to the pastor. I've had it!

I tried to schedule it, requested Friday night, and they told me it was a bit early and someone would contact me. THat was 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard back from them. I will call again the first week of June. (They say they schedule them 3 months in advance)

I thought it was bit early too, but I thought I'd give it a shot and they had no problem scheduling my rehearsal.

Mine was one year ago today
Getting back to the question....
I had mine two days before my wedding. Wedding was on a Friday last year.

I was able to schedule mine a few months in advance, I spoke with the priest handling my paperwork to do so (we had DH's uncle marry us). I had just called to check in and he said we could schedule it then and he wrote me in the book.

Can I ask who scheduled your rehearsal? The couple they told me to talk to said we were supposed to talk to someone else!

My problem is that it HAS to be on a Friday (due to my and FH's work schedules and the fact that every member but 2 of our BP is out of town). My brother was married there and had his rehearsal on a Friday, too. I think that could be part of the problem with scheduling.

Did you call Martha yourself for music, or did she contact you when the date got closer?

Re: brides getting married in a church: when did you schedule the rehearsal?

I called a few months ago when we started to look at places for our RD. We had a difficult time finding a place during the holiday season that would accommodate our rather large RD guest list. I know our deacon in our church so I left a message for him, since he will be doing the rehearsal (the priest is coming from a near by parish- he used to be at our church). He called me back and then I was able to book the RD based on the time we booked.

My priest scheduled mine 2 weeks ago and my wedding isn't until November.

Well, I called and got someone else in the rectory who was very pleasant.

She can't do the scheduling for rehearsals, but someone will call me back about it this week.

So I guess we'll see...

I actually got lucky and scheduled my rehearsal the day we booked the church in November!
Definitely tell them you need to get this on the books, I know many churches aren't good with returning calls and stuff so just stay on them!
My rehearsal is the day before my wedding at 6:30!

We booked our rehearsal when we booked our wedding, about a year ago! You should prob be able to book yours. We are having ours Thursday for a Saturday wedding.
