why would she want to be with a person that only wanted to be with a virgin - - umm -was she so sure her fiance was a virgin and he was expecting the same from her -

It's terrible that she planned on starting her marriage by lying to her husband about her virginity but the whole double standard is disgusting. It's very sad that she was made to feel that she had to lie and get this awful procedure done in order to 'keep her man.'

The things that are expected of women that attempt to fall under the guise of 'tradition' are ludicrous. Reading something like this makes me wonder if we've actually moved forward at all from the middle ages!
