Hey girls. Im only 21 and I will be 23 when I get married and I was wondering what the hardest thing has been for you, being young and getting married. I just think a lot of my friends are being annoying and very unsupportive about us getting married so young. Its like no one is excited for us except for a select few.

Re: brides under 25!
Im 24 now and will be 25 when we get married so we're kinda on the cusp and to be honest, I havent gotten any slack, however when I was with my (then boyfriend, now FH) for a year or two and I would tell people that I knew we would get married one day, they would go, OMG, you are so young, hae fun...you dont KNOW that you will marry him. I remember I got so mad and I was like 'F her...if i still know her, she is def not coming to the wedding since she couldnt support me then'.
So, I know how you feel. It is hard...Im not saying to not talk about it or stop enjoying your planning but when those people are around, I would just limit the talk about it to avoid yourself the aggravation. There is nothing you could do to change how people think...the greatest payback will be making it in your marriage and being like 'ha- eat your words!' lol

I was 20 when I got engaged and I will be 23 when I get married and I haven't gotten any slack for it. FH and I are high school sweethearts and we've been together for 9 years now so we're ready to start our life as a married couple and our family and friends know that. As far as anyone who doesn't know us, no one has still said anything to me about my age.

Re: brides under 25!
I was 25 when I got married, got engaged at 23. No-1 said anything about, plus I have been with FH for 8 years at the time of our wedding. People started to ask us all the time when we were going to get married. However, I have a cousin who is 21 and getting married next month. She hasn't graduated college yet and she is taking so much heat for it. I feel bad for her really. At her shower people kept talking about 'how young she is', 'why couldn't she wait'. I know at her age I wasn't ready to get married but I would never judge anyone who felt they were ready. Marriage is a very personal choice and if two people are committed to one another no one should say anything.

I was 24 when I was engaged and married at 25, my friends are all single and none are married so the hardest thing was planning my wedding by myself since my friends didnt know what went into a wedding.

I was engaged at 22 and now 23 and will be 23 for the wedding. I actually haven't gotten any comments, even to strangers. Which was surprising, bc I really thought I was gonna get slack for it. My brother thinks I'm too young but he is one of those people who will probably get married when he's 40 lol but he hasn't said anything about it really.
I think it helps that my FH is older, he is 26 will be 27 at the wedding.

Re: brides under 25!
I was 24 when i got engaged i'm 25 now ill be 26 a few weeks after we get married... a lot of my friends now are married but when FH started dating i was 20 and we knew pretty early on that we wanted to get married but waited to finish our schoolings... Early in the relationship we definitely got a lot of slack from friends who found it hard to believe we knew so young who we wanted to marry. Most of those friends are now getting married of have serious significant others so whatever issues there may be im telling you will definitely pass! Once it gets closer to the wedding your friends who might not have been so psyched are going to be very excited to be a part of their friends wedding

I'm 24...I'll be 25 when I get married. So far the hardest thing is the money part. I just finished college and got a full time job, so I haven't really saved too much money...plus I have student loans. The state of the economy only makes it worse.

Re: brides under 25!
I am 24 and will be 25 when I get married...FH is 27 and will be 28 so I think that helps my situation a little...
...honestly the only slack I have really gotten so far is that I broke up with my previous boyfriend a year and 4 months ago and at the time I told him and everyone else that I just wanted to be single. Then I met FH and that all went out the window. So some of my friends really question whether or not I'm ready since only last year I was saying I didn't want anything serious.
But they can kiss the fattest part of my butt coz I love this man...when its right, its right!

Re: brides under 25!
Helloooo,
I'm 22 and my FH is 23; we'll both be 24 when we get married. Everyone has been quite supportive and happy for us; however, I think our (or at least my!) biggest fear is looking extremely young or naive to reception hall managers and in turn, being taken advantage of price wise. I look a couple of years younger than I actually am, so it scares me that I feel I'm going to have to be so defensive!

Re: brides under 25!
I sent that last message prematurely... I meant to add; don't listen to people, because honestly one day they will see. Like someone else who posted, FH and I knew after only a few months of dating that we were eventually going to get married and some people thought it was great, and some people thought it was laughable. It hurts, but people will come around- so just ignore them for now, because like I said, they'll see one day.

its great not to be the only one but i still feel like a baby after reading this board I am about to be 22 and the FH is 21 I will be 23 when we get married. My family was happy that we were getting married so were most of our friends of course we heard a bunch of remarks such as you guys are too young...and are you sure you want to marry him there are so many men out there in the end only you two know how you feel about each other and dont let what people say get to you

Re: brides under 25!
IM 20 and getting married in 2 months. I was 18 when I got engaged.
I only knew my fiance for 4 months before we got engaged. But theres a story behind it. I am from a strict family who follows the traditions of an arranged marraige and so when they found out about my boyfriend, they flipped and said if i wanted to continue it we had to get engaged, and we both agreed. and i honestly think it was the best decision of my life.
and here we are, me at 20 and FH at 24 preparing for our wedding in less than 2 months

Re: brides under 25!
I am 23 now, engaged at 21, will be married at 24. FH was 26 when we got engaged and he is 27 now, 29 when we get married. My family still has a hard time with me wanting to get married, but now they see that we are both serious about getting married and that we both feel this is right for us. FH and I have been together since I was 18 and have been inseperable since. They knew we would get married one day, but thought I would be closer towards 30...Age is a big factor in their disapproval, but if you just keep acting like an adult and try to show them that your ready for this, parents shouldnt have that much of an issue with it...And for all the other people who say stuff, brush them off, what do they know!!

Re: brides under 25!
im 22 & fh is 23...we will be 23 & 24 when we get married... both sides of our family are very supportive..
the only person who gives me sh!t is my philosophy teacher...he thinks im too young, but hes a nice & super funny guy & he'll pick on me in front of the class...its amusing
the hardest part has been making different decisions
