Brides who already have kids or will be combining families, ceremony ideas?

Any ideas for including the kid(s) in the ceremony?

My son will be 5 1/2 when the wedding comes around and we think he might be too old to be the ring bearer. We aren't having a flowergirl either. We want to include him in the ceremony somehow because FH always says he not only marrying me, he's marrying him as well.

I've heard of the family medallion ceremony, anyone have any other ideas?

He is definitely not too old to be a ring bearer. Acceptable ages for the ringer bearer are usually 3-8.

FH has full custody of his 7 year old daughter...we are doing a sand ceremony with 3 different colors to incorporate her.

He is def not too old!
My Daughter is 12 years old and is serving as our Maid of Honor along side her Godmother who will be the Matron of Honor. We incorporated Melanie in ALOT of other ways too such as we are doing the Sand ceremony with three (3) vases & three (3) colors, we are doing the family medallion as well, she's helping with some of the planning, and she has been right with as through the entire process. Good Luck with everything!!

My step daughter will be 11 and my stepson will be 19

We are doing a family ceremony and a sand ceremony- each of them will have one cylinder with sand and we are all pouring them into one large vase.

I hope this helps :)

I have seen this before too. I think they have special 'family' type of sand kits that you can buy.

Each of the children will be in the Bridal party. We are not doing a sand ceremony but that is a really great idea.

That's sweet! My daughter just turned 13 and she definitely doesn't want to be a flower girl anymore so I made her junior bridesmaid which is perfect. The sand idea seems cool too!

FH technically has no custody of his 8 year old daughter (but she lives mostly with us - long story!!) and we´re doing the same thing.

We´re also having her as a flower girl because she´s seen in movies how they dress pretty and throw flowers on the floor and wants to do that. (in her words)

I think that due to his age, if you do the sand ceremony just make sure the main vase either has a very wide mouth or that you use some kinda funnel. That way it´ll be easier on him.
