Hello! They don't allow petals to be thrown down the aisle. I am planning on having my guests throw petals as we exit church and as far as we know it is okay to do. If it's not, I don't want to know because I'm doing it anyway.

evenedan, shucks! i wanted my FG's to throw petals down the aisle...
i found this while rummaging thru st. aidan's packet:
'while it is traditional to throw rice after a wedding, we ask you to consider that the rice which will remain on the sidewalk and steps of the church, is harmful to birds and hazardous to those walking by, especially the elderly. also, other popular choices, such as birdseed, confetti, and flower petals, can be equally dangerous. as an alternative, please consider using bubbles or ringing small bells.'
it doesn't say anything about the aisle, i dunno. tho' they don't recommend it, it looks like you CAN throw petals outside the church--i think i'm with you, i'm gonna try and do it anyways :)

Okay, I considered the bubbles and bells, but decided on using the petals.

I just got married there in June. While I did not have a flowergirl I did have guests throw heart shaped rice and blow bubbles as we exited the Church. I don't think they had a problem with it. I was the 3:15 wedding on a Saturday so they had the 5 o'clock Mass starting to come in as we were leaving around 4:45 so the Church aid just asked that the doors behind us be closed before people started throwing. I have driven by when weddings were going on and have seen petals. I think anything outside the Church is fine.

While i did not get married there my church allowed us to throw fake rose petals not real ones because those are hazardeous and can stain the cement if it is raining out.
