Brides who ordered Sweetheart gowns...

OMG! My friend is getting married on Nov. 2 in Maryland, and she has been waiting for her gown to come in ANY DAY. She ordered it back in April, and the bridal shop (in Maryland) has been blowing her off for weeks and weeks. She called the manufacturer (Sweetheart Gowns) directly, and they would NOT give her any information.

SO, she started to call other bridal shops in her area to see if they had her gown style in stock!

She comes to find out that her gown has BEEN DISCONTINUED!!!

And they knew about this back in May! Was anyone going to tell her this!?!????

Her wedding is in just a few weeks!

Now she is going to David's Bridal to see if she can find something off the rack. Her bridal shower is this weekend, and I am going to Maryland for it. She doesn't know about the shower, or the fact that I will be there. But, I am bringing MY dress with me in case she doesn't find anything at David's. She won't have time to order anything! I cannot believe the bridal shop did this to her!

The style that was discontinued is #2459. Here's a picture of the gown:

The first dress I ordered from Paradise Bridal (mentioned in my 'Warning' post about Paradise a few days ago) was a Sweetheart! I wonder if that had anything to some of my problems -
I hope everything works out for your friend - That is a total nightmare!

It is the strangest thing...she now knows the gown has been discontinued, and had someone at the manufacturer CONFIRM it, but yet, the bridal shop is still refusing to say ANYTHING. They have only admitted that there is a 'problem' with her gown. They won't tell her exactly what the problem is. It just proves that bridal shops are more loyal to the manufacturers than to retail customers (brides & BMs). The shop is trying to tell her that she still has the 'option' to get a refund or order another gown from them.

Claud, I live in Maryland and am looking for a gown. Can you please tell me where your friend went so that I know not to go there!!! Please tell your friend to try the Davids in Glen Burnie. I went there and the man that was helping me, Robert is fabulous. I wanted to buy a gown there just so I could keep working with him.

That is awful Claud! She and her sister should go INTO the store and make a HUGE scene. I bet the other girls trying on gowns would LOVE to hear about this. I would also post on the
www.weddingchannel.com, local Maryland board about this. If she paid by credit card she can call and dispute any and all charges. I feel sooo bad for her.
