Brides with day weddings, what time are you waking up?

I read about a bride whose ceremony began at 12:30, and her and her whole bridal party started getting their hair and make up done at 4 a.m.! That scares me! Is this really necessary? I wasn't planning on sleeping until 10 o'clock or anyting, but geez, 4am comes pretty early! As it is, I am worried about being able to fall asleep the night before, I may not get to sleep until 3!

Brides with day weddings, what time are you waking up?

Oh gosh! I probably won't be able to fall asleep the night before. My wedding is scheduled for noon and I will just have my bridesmaids meet me at the place by 11am. I will be there by 10:30am. I don't want them to make a big deal out of the hair/makeup thing. As long as they have their hair done, one bridesmaids will be responsible for checking and touching up everyone's makeup.

I think I'll be up around 6 .... we are taking pictures

before the ceremony (which starts at 12 - so I want to get to the Manor by 9:30 - the LATEST! So, I think I need to be ready by 8:30 - to snap some pictures at home. The WM is only 10 minutes from my house. All the girls will be at my house by 8 - some are getting ready by me! We probably will have our parents meet us at the WM - I'm thinking by 10:45 - 11:00 to take some pictures too. MY FH and I need to work on the timing with our video and photographer! :-) BUT I too, probably won't be able to sleep the night before. I'm hoping to get to bed early. MY FH is thinking about getting a mild sleeping pill for that week - so atleast we'll be rested. That's something we need to talk to our doctors about. Good Luck!

Game plan for now *NM*

Mine is a 11:00 AM ceremony! AAAHHH! Since the photographer will be at my house at 9:00 AM - and I have 9 women to get ready, I plan to start, with 2 hairdressers at around 6:00-7:00 AM - I think. Anyone who has had a similar timeframe - what time did you start?

I started at 6am

My ceremony began at 11:00. The photographer got to the hotel at about 9:45. I didn't want to be pressed for time, so I decided to get an early start. My bm's arrived at about 9:30 and there were no last minute panics before we got to the church. Good luck.

Brides with day weddings, what time are you waking up?

Our ceremony is at 11:00 am. Provided the trials go well, I found a hair salon that will bring in 3 or 4 people to do our hair, plus a make-up girl for me. There will be myself, 4 BM, 1 FG and maybe my mom. I`m planning on starting at 7:30 so that I can be back to my house (right around the corner) by 9ish, and the girls can follow soon after. I don`t think I will be sleeping the night before anyway. I can hardly sleep now some nights! Jen

Hi. To get back to you about the precana... we start tomorrow night (3-2hr sessions.) My parish is tiny so they do them one-on-one. I grew up out towards Arcade (not sure if you are familiar with that area?) I have a question about make-up and hair. How did you find someone? That is the one and only thing that I absolutely need still. Hair and make-up are so much more expensive in LI, do you not think so? {sigh} then again most things are. :) What else do you still need? If I can help in anyway, I would be glad too. Did you get your drees? If so where? I bought mine from Davids last May...was very happy overall. Take care. Nancy

Nancy

Hi Nancy! It sounds like our pre-cana will be similar. We will meet with a couple a few times one-on-one. How was your first meeting? As far as hair and make-up. I haven`t booked with anyone yet, because I haven`t had an opportunity to have any trials done. The last time I was in LI, I drove around the area around my parents house to see what is nearby, and I contacted each of them to get an idea of what they normally do. The next time I`m home, which will hopefully be for Easter, I will schedule trials for a couple places. I`ll probably only do makeup at this point, because I`m still unsure about my hair. I plan on working with my regular hair dresser here who`s great, and then take pictures to whoever is going to do it. You can seach on www.buffaloyellow.com to find the salons in the Glen Cove area and start to narrow it down that way. I ordered my dress last month from Adriennes. I`m a little concerned since reading some of the recent negative reviews on this board. I`ve been working on BM dresses recently. I went to Frances on Harlem Rd. They have a lot of dresses, and their prices are reasonable. Have you gotten your BM dresses yet? I am considering ordering them, once we decide, on-line. Netbride has gotten some good reviews. Have you decided on where to register? There aren`t that many stores that are both in Buffalo, department stores that is, so we're having a hard time deciding. Thanks for the update. Let me know how the rest of your planning is going! Jen

Precana wasn't bad at all. I have to honestly say that we had fun. Not bad at all, just exercises that you and FI do and then talk about. As for bridal places, I don't think that every person will always have a good experience and I think the bad experiences often are heard more than the positives? I bought the bridesmaid dresses from Davids as well. I had 15% off and they found a great dress for a decent price. I received thouse back in Nov/Dec?! I can't remember. I have to recommend Suzannes (sp?) Wedding World for tiaras and headpieces. She is on Union Rd in front of the Consumers Plaza (Sams Club.) Very reasonably priced. Registering-we went with Linens N Things. Same stuff as Bed Bath and Beyond, but to me is just organized much better. We also registered at Fortunoffs in LI because that is where everyone recommmended. They have some great stuff. My suggestion is to register on line so that you can walk in the store and ask to update your registery. Saves a lot of time. I won't be making a trip to LI anytime too soon. We had hoped to go to LI for Easter, but we are closing on our house that weekend. Then again, sometimes we decided to go at the very last minute. Good luck and keep in touch!! Nancy

Could you tell me what salon you are considering? I would love to have that many girls in to do hair! Thanks!

The name of the salon is the `Best Little Hair House`. That name makes me laugh every time! It`s on the corner of Old Nichols Rd. and Nesconset Hwy in Nesconset. I`ll be sure to post after I have my trial done!
