Brides with Ivory gowns!

If you're having your FH wear an ivory dress shirt, make SURE to check the shirt next to your dress or a swatch of it!!!!!!!!!!

Thank GOODNESS a friend of mine who got married last week brought that to my attention! When I got home I compared his shirt for the wedding to my dress and his shirt was YELLOW next to my dress! Can you imagine how we would have looked at the wedding!

<-----medievalist here! Kilts are hot! Mine is italian and refuses to wear them for our wedding!

Honestly, with the whole tux and vest and jacket you barely notice it. I wore ivory and I insisted DH also wear an ivory shirt which was probably darker than my gown but it looked fine. It's when the groom wears a white shirt and the bride wears ivory that it is more noticeable because it can make the gown look dirty.

I agree. we did the same thing and I think DH's was a bit darker, but it was not noticeable.

don't stress too much over 'matching' perfectly because it's almost impossible!

his dress shirt for the wedding was not only yellow next to my dress, it was banana yellow! it was dark ivory I guess.

so what should I do if my dress is light ivory? I held up another lighter ivory shirt and a white one next to the dress and the white short was the best match... not perfect though.

good call! Thanks. My dress is ivory and i should keep that in mind when looking for tuxes. will all bridal shops give you a swatch of your dress?

So what if it's not Ivory? Mine is Diamond white and champagne!! What do I do with that????? Do you get an ivory shirt or a white shirt???? Great totaly did not think of this!! UGH!

McSullivan - My FH is wearing a kilt too. The tartan is Irish National and I bought them all the ties in the same tartan. It has a white stripe in it, but I went with off-white shirts from Van Heusen. They look good with the tartan and are perfect with my ivory shoes (which are the same color as my dress)

We're doing the Irish National kilt, too!!
When are you picking yours up? Or are you having them mailed?
