I don't have anything positive to add since we didn't do submerged CPs, but HOLY CR@P THAT'S EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!! I'm in awe!
I seriously thought something like that would cost *maybe* $20 - $35 each. Wow. I would totally DIY that if I were planning all over again.
My CPs were just roses in water pitchers I purchased from Target for $9 each and they only cost me $25 each which was like the price of a dozen roses and setup and stuff. I did not DIY them but went with a works-from-home florist. I just really only thought a reason you'd choose submerged flowers was because they were super inexpensive. Lesson learned!

Well Sandra, that's what I was thinking as an alternative to the large branch centerpieces with virtually no flowers for which I was quoted $200/cp. Turns out I wouldn't really be saving as I wanted more than 3 pieces in the arrangement. Moving on...

Re: Brides with submerged flower/candle CP's
When I took my MOH to our RH a few months before my wedding the wedding that was set up there had these CPs and we thought they were so incredibly beautiful. It was a daytime wedding, though, like mine. But they looked much more affordable than the others you were considering:

Are the florist taking these CP back or are these cylinders your after the wedding?

Unfortunately, the cost of the glass is what makes the larger assemblies more expensive... I don't know WHY you can't 'borrow' the glass... I guess the labor of having to keep them clean and the risk that they won't use those particular shapes and sizes again? But what do I want with 50-60 glass cyliinders after my wedding???

I actually have some LIW hand me downs in the works if that's the style I decide to go with... but I'd have to see about the florist still being able to put the arrangements together for me cause I don't have that kind of time or patience.

Re: Brides with submerged flower/candle CP's
Theses were my CP's...LOTS of submerged orchids. $65, Designs by Rose. I purchased the vases from CB2 for $7.
We're doing something like this but with deep purple flowers instead of reds - 3 large cylinders of different heights with the tallest almost 2 feet (about 4' wide) and then 6 votives around the cylinders. We're paying $100 per centerpiece.
ETA: Sorry pic is so small - there's one in an album.
Wow I never realized the submerged CPs could be so expensive!

Re: Brides with submerged flower/candle CP's
I had submerged black magic roses in vases and it cost $45 per centerpiece. The vase on the table were tall and the florist put rose petals on the table around the centerpiece.
