brides with wedding budgets of 12000 or less, come on in

Okay sometimes i feel like we are the only ones on this boat. I'm going crazy trying to find a beautiful, elegant and affordable reception spot for under 50 pp + tax. Everywhere i call, is way over my budget and i feel like i deserve to have it at a nice place that it's not a cheapy place. Please help. we were considering august of next year but most likely it will be may 2005. we are trying to save more money since we are paying this by ourselves. Are we the only people in this predicament? we are not rich or anything to pay for the exorbitant prices they ask for. is for around 80 people and we are considering a friday night. thanks again

I just want to say you may want to consider looking into january for your wedding. You can get some awesome deals. You may also want to do a daytime.

I believe Irenie19 had her wedding at Jericho Terrace 12/21 of last year a Saturday daytime wedding and she paid $50 pp. Jericho Terrace is beautiful.

As I said look into off season.

I'm in the same boat. We haven't booked a place yet, but we are looking at march or april of 2004 as May begins the 'wedding season' and things are more expensive. You could try an off season month...Jan, Feb. prices are way cheaper. I'm going to look at a bunch of places on Sunday...but they are all around $65 pp. A little more than I wanted to spend...but most of them include top shelf liquor, centerpeices and the cake. I will also try to save money in other places. We are not going to do limos...we are going to have the ceremony at the reception site, so I figured I could save on the limos and get myself there. Also...we are not doing a video....the pictures will be fine and a family member can take a video of the ceremony. There are ways to cut costs....don't worry....you'll be fine. Good luck !

Hi Tania,
I hear you..it is so expensive!!!! We are getting married at the Fox Hollow which isn't 'cheap' but isn't too expensive either. We are waiting until 2005 to get married so that we have the extra time to stock away $$. I hear that Sunset Harbour is affordable and may (not 100% sure) be in your budget. Good luck and feel free to FM if you have any questions.

I am having my wedding March 6th, 2004 (off season) and it gave us only 8 months to plan. We knew right off the bat that there isn't a lot of money to pull this off...but we're doing it! Girls, please consider the Lessing's catering locations (link at bottom)...my wedding is costing me $53 pp plus tax. We chose Timber Point because of the homey feeling it gave, it's on the water, and on a golf course. Ben is a doll to work with and is helping with the budgeting. I've heard nothing but great things about Timber Point and I also attended a party at Smithtown Landing...food was awesome, service was awesome, settign was nice too! I also hear Sunset Harbor or Harbour?? has great pricing as well, and it's on the water.

If you have any questions, I'm around all the time! I love knowing that there are girls in the same boat as me and I want to help others as much as I can

i have to second lessings. we got married 'in season' so we paid more than you are looking for, but overall they are a lot less expensive and we only had minor issues that stemmed from one of their employees. the rest were great!

Welcome Abord!!! I think I'm within budget so far, we are having the reception at Sunset Harbour in Patchogue, right about the $55 price for a Sunday. Duet is the photo/video. In the Mood for DJ. Invites will be order this week (Rebecca) from Rebecca at Favorite Things Invites. I have super nice, elegant invites for about $250. Check my other posts for pics and comments. We are also skipping the lime, but can afford the video b/c of Duet.

we are having a our wedding on a budget and I have found so much info on the internet-
we are having our reception at the knights of columbus- I dont know where you live but I believe most of them have an in house caterer- we are paying 34pp plus tax and 15% grat and it includes ALL that the other catering halls are doing(just not as pretty)-and you can upgrade on the menu- the food is fresh and its good- i have went to a tasting-there is also the mediterranen manor in patchogue- good deals in jan feb march and they have packages for thurs fri and sat morn and sun morn- stuart manor in farmingdale- i talked to the owner and he gave me a good deal- 55pp tax and grat INCLUDED but I personally didnt like the food-(too plain)- also try some colleges and botanical gardens- and bring in an off premises caterer-Good Luck

With 80 people you can have your reception at Captain Bill's Harborview Room. It is very pretty, on the water, quaint, food is great and you can get it with top shelf for about $41 a head. Try restaurants vs. 'halls', they can be just as elegant. Also check out The Sterling in Bethpage, however, I don't know if their rates went up already. They were offering Imperior Manor rates because they are opening as The Sterling and thereafter charging more per head. By it is less than $50. Call ASAP. Good Luck.

Welcome to the board! I, too, am pretty much new to this board as well.

I am getting married at Fox Hollow (as some of the women on this board are as well); have you ever considered having your wedding on a weekday? I'm telling you, many brides of today are considering weekday weddings. For one, you can have a beautiful summer / spring wedding, for a fraction of the cost.

It certainly something to consider. Those who really want to attend your wedding be there, regardless which day it is. Who says you have to get married on a weekend?

Anyhow, you are in good hands with LIW - as you venture into the planning of your day, the women on this site will give you wonderful suggestions on ways to save money - not just on the hall, but with flowers, photo, etc.

Good luck - I know how tuff it is trying to plan a wedding and a future.

Cheers!

I am not sure what TYPE of place you are looking for but you may want to try Meadow Club in Port Jeff. I am paying about 70pp but thats for a Saturday night in June. They have a buffet meal that would probably be aroudn what you are looking for and they are really wonderful to work with. (I would have considered a buffet if it wasnt for the fact we are have about 180 people) They also include your cake and centerpieces.
Also I know someone mentioned Duet! GO SEE THEM. I really liked them and their prices were great! I have the photo prices if you are interested just FM me....(we didnt book them because we were too late and they are now booked for our day! )
As so many people have said, there are alot of options, you just have to search sometimes.
For anyone looking for favors if you can take a weekend and travel to the outlets in Reading, PA, my cousin got the most gorgeous candle votives for about $1 each. They are the nices ones I have ever seen given out at a reception.

Good LUCK
