I just got engaged in March and one month prior my dad passed. I have asked my uncle (my dad's brother) to walk me down the aisle. I do plan on having the father/daughter dance with him but I'm kind of stuck on what to choose. Does anyone who had to experience a similar situation have suggestions??

Unfortunately I share this experience with you. My father passed in February and I got engaged in July. I understand exactly how you feel. My brother is walking me down the isle. I've decided that during the father/daughter dance.. I will start the dance with my brother & my dad has 4 brothers - they will step in throughout the song.. and take turns.

My dad passed 5 years ago. His best friend, my uncle is walking me down the aisle. My brother and I are dancing to you got a friend in me. I wanted to keep it light so it's not too upsetting

Thank you guys for the help. My dad has two brothers and a sister. I decided that my dad's youngest brother will walk me down the aisle and do the dance with me. I wanted to have a dance with my other uncle and aunt but was having difficulty deciding.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I too lost someone very dear to me this year and with the holidays here I haven't been too upbeat. Thankfully I have an amazing husband and together we have a beautiful little boy who brings joy to my days. It's because of them that I can just wipe my tears and I keep moving forward so we can have a wonderful holiday season. I too didn't have my 'dad' with me on the day of my wedding. My grandfather who raised me was supposed to walk me down the aisle and I was going to dance Butterfly Kisses with him. I found a version in spanish so it was perfect for him to understand. But when my grandmother became more ill and was no longer fit to attend the wedding changes needed to be made. She passed months later. One of my uncles (my mother's brother) took his place and I changed the father/daughter. As much as I missed having my grandparents present at my wedding I was happy my uncle was with me. I hope this was helpful. Good luck. No matter what you decide, nobody can replace your dad and even if he isn't physically there his spirit is within you.

Both my parents are gone. My uncle walked me down the aisle and we danced to 'The Way You Look Tonight' by Sinatra. It wasn't sad at all. There's so much going on that day and I was having SUCH a good time, there was no time to even think about being sad or upset.
