Bridesmaid dress issues

Bridesmaid dress issues

So I ordered my bridesmaids dresses from a store that many girls on here have used with mixed reviews. I called on Thursday to make sure that the dresses had indeed been ordered. The girl I spoke to told me yes the order was already placed and I should expect them within 5 months. When I brought to her attention the fact that the wedding was in November, she quickly responded by telling me not to worry, they would simply tell the designer that the wedding was in September to allow enough time for shipping and alterations.

Today I received a phone call stating that she placed the order for the dress today and the manufacturer told her that they were unable to do the color combination I had requested (black and ivory). I was told repeatedly that it would NOT be an issue. She told me the other option was to do the dress an order an ivory sash separately which would cost approximately $35.

So my question is, am I wrong for being extremely upset? Why should my girls have to pay for a sash when we were told the color combo would not be a problem.

Any insight or help or advice on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies.

I would contact the owner of the Bridal place! Who is the vendor? I am afraid to ask!!!!

It was Jim Hjelm. Coincidently the dress is no longer on the website. They (the bridal store) told me that Hjelm said they can do it in black and brown. I do not like that color combination. jmo

I would contact the store owner and let her know how upset you are about this. I don't think you should have to change your dress colors or be charged extra money for their mistake.

If they don't budge I would tell them you are going to take your business somewhere else then.

You should definitly contact the owner and speak with them directly.. I feel horrible telling you this, but the bridal shop I worked in, didn't charge for sash changes or color changes for the dress.. As far as I know, the sash comes with the dress so why charge more for it.. Why would they make you pay extra for something when it was their screw up in the first place... The place I worked for told me that Jim Hjelm doesn't charge extra for those things.. Contact the owner and tell them that you called around and other bridal shops told you that you wouldn't have to pay extra for that and tell them that you shouldnt have to pay for thier mistake... I hope it all works out for you!!
