I am so stressed out. We are going this week to order the bridesmaids' dresses. There are so many problems. My MOH will have given birth about 2 months before my wedding and we're not sure what size dress to order. Another bridesmaid is planning to get pregnant before my wedding but not sure when. She will probably be pregnant at the time of the wedding. We don't know what size dress to order her. There are going to be so many alterations on their dresses. This is really stressing me out. Any suggestions on ordering bigger size dresses?

Are you going to a full service salon? I'm sure they've dealt with these issues and can be of assistance!

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
I cannot stress enough on this subject...be VERY careful..one of my frinds was 8 months pregnant for another friends wedding just last month...she was MOH..anyway she orderd her dress in a size 18 because that's what the store told her she would be since they made her put a pillow on under the dress..anyway long story short..the dress DID NOT FIT and could not be altered..the chest area was WAY too big and the tummy was just enough room..bottom line is unless the dress comes in maternity sizes your taking a gamble...the woman at the dress shop told her afterwards that maternity dresses are cut much different the ordering just a large size dress.. Good Luck!
ps- sorry so long

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
thanks for the advice. My bridal shop says this happens all the time. They have dealt with it before, but I'm still so stressed out. My bridesmaid who may be pregnant is really tiny. I think she is normally a size 2. I think we're going to order her a size 10 and hope it fits. My MOH wants to order 2 sizes bigger than normal. What do you think?

I'm sorry, I hope I didn't add to your stress..I just wanted to give you a 'heads up'..
by the way my friend was a size 6-8 normally....
can you see if the dress comes in 'maternity sizes' maybe?

I'm already stressing about it, you didn't add to it. I'll check about the maternity sizes.
What did your fiend do?

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
she couldn't be in the bridal party...
she had brought it to an outside seamstress who told her the same thing ...it couldn't be altered without moving the whole dress material around and it would end up looking funny...

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
she was disappointed..but she knew that it wasn't my friends fault..
but don't stress ...just look into all options first and see if the bridal shops can direct you to dresses that can be ordered in maternity also..

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
BM dresses come in super quick - could you hold off on ordering the dresses until spring? By then you would know if your friend is pregnant...

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
I will ask the dress shop how late can we order the dresses. How quickly do they usually come in? If they come in quickly, that's definitely a good idea.

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
MY MOH is pregnant and giving birth In January.. My wedding is in May. The salon said since she is the MOH and going to be in a different color anyway, they could order her's after she has the baby... 3rd week in Jan... maybe think about putting her in a different dress or diferent color. As far as the other girl possibly being pregnant... it also may not happen... so order a size or two bigger and then just alter it...
hope this helps and don't stress.. i was in the same sich a month ago.. it'll all work out..
good luck and

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
I have seen matertinty dresses. Could you wait until about 7-8 months before the wedding to find out if the other BM is pregnant?

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
My wedding is nine months away now. The only problem with waiting is that I don't think she will tell us if she's pregnant until the 2nd tri-mester. She is very private about these things.

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
i don't know if this will help or not, but i didn't order my bm dresses (from netbride.com) until 4 months before the wedding. and they came in really quickly. maybe you could try something like that? if you're really set on using a salon though i would think you could wait another couple of months at least. good luck.

Re: Bridesmaid dress problem
One of my BM just got prego and we asked the bridal place what to do about the order. Is your dress a 2 piece? The lady at my place said that a 2 piece can be ordered in a larger size for the belly and the top doesn't need to be that much bigger. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Yes. It is a 2 piece. The bridal place said they would order 2 different sizes? That would be great. I will definitely ask them!
