Bridesmaid Dress Question---I'm Kinda Nervous

I ordered all 10 of my dresses from one bridal salon. They called me today to tell me that my dresses came in (Yay! I thought, lol) then they tell me that they are closing in a week and I have to pick them all up by next week!

OMG!!!

Now what do I do ? Can you girls give me any suggestions? Where can I take them all to be altered? How can I store them till then? Can I keep them in my house or their houses!! I am a little nervous as you can tell!!

I would say as long as you didn't pay them for alterations, you can take them home and then distribute them to the girls so they can have them altered/store them for you..don't worry..you picked these girls for a reason..they should be able to handle it! Good luck!

Do you have a nice dry cleaner? If so, I would take them there and 'forget' to pick them up until you get closer to your date. I have left clothes in storage at the dry cleaners both intentionally and unintentionally for months!

Seriously, I would either keep them in my house or whoever has the largest storage space AND is responsible (won't let five year old boys run around and play with them). And related to my dry cleaner comment, some of them have alterations on site or can recommend someone. That will take the dresses off your hands for a few weeks that way. HTH

Well bright side of things-

they're closing after ALL the dresses are in.

IMO it would be best to have each girl pick up the dress and take it for alterations on their own. Some may actually find this more convienient b/c they go at their own time and perhaps find a better price.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

i would NEVER EVER do that!! most dry cleaners donate unclaimed clothes to charity 4-6 months after the pickup date WITHOUT a call first.

the dress won't get ruined at all if you keep it hanging in a closet. it will be fine. i kept several dresses for friends' weddings in my closet for months and they didn't even get wrinkled.

just let them take it home. you shouldn't hold onto them, and it will give them a chance to get them altered when they want...they don't have to go to the same place to do it!

i agree! don't do that, cause you will probably wind up losing your BM dresses!

i say, take them home and keep them in their bags. you can probalby bring them to phyllis at Bridal Elegance...she alters dresses that are not from her. even if they're wrinkled, it's okay...cause they will get pressed anyway, when the gowns are altered!

Where is that store? Bring them to a tailor

all my girls already picked up their dresses; they are storing them and then going to whatever tailor or seamstress they know to alter it
