Bridesmaid Dresses

Are you paying for your bridesmaid dresses?

I was in a wedding party previously where a few bridesmaids were squirming about the costs of this and that.

I was just wondering if you were planning to pay for them.

I am not paying for the, but I did find dresses that were only $118. Being in a bridal party is expensive, I've been in a few - but all my girls have known for 2 years that they are in my wedding, so I feel like they had advance warning.

No, I can't afford to pay for them, but if I could I would.

I think when someone agrees to be your BM they know there is a cost involved.

i'm paying for the dresses. I am letting the gals do their hair and make-up however they want (so they pay) and i'm getting them small gifts. i figured not everyone is thrilled at buying dresses that they may never wear again and if i let them pick their own hair and make-up, they will look somewhat individual and they can tailor the looks to their own taste!

It was not even a thought in my mind...until I decided I had no idea what to get them besides the jewelry, which amounted to nothing. I got a great deal off of Netbride.com that made the dresses come to next to nothing. I only had a MOH and a BM who are both close family members.
So...my answer is yes. I paid for their dress and jewelry as their gift.

(They paid for alterations though.)

Since my MOH is getting married VERY shortly after me and they are paying for the wedding themselves - I offered to pay for her dress. My mom is paying for my junior bridesmaid dress (my cousin) and the other BM is paying her own way. I didn't think it was necessary for me to have to pay for her dress when she still lives at home, makes quite a bit more money then me and has very few expenses.

I'm not paying for the dresses. I've always paid for my dress and if it isn't something they can afford well, they should of thought about that before they said yes to being in your bridal party. Why do people act surprised when a price tag comes up?

no, I cannot afford that.

paying half...

found a dress for $160 with alternations. i have 5 girls...paying for half for 4 and whole thing for my junior bm (cousin). i don't believe they should pay for the whole thing. it's should be a honor to be in a wedding party but i'm asking them to be in it. while they are keeping the dress, they probably will never wear it again so i don't want to make them pay for the whole thing.
