Bridesmaid dresses

Bridesmaid dresses

I am interested in doing all different dresses in different colors. I have seen the look in a couple of magazines. It is not the same dress, but all different ones, some plaid, some plain some long and all different. I was wondering if anyone had done this look yet.

I have only seen this with the same color, but different dress. In the 80s they had 'rainbow' weddings which were girls in different colors of the same dress.
If you have only 2 girls I think completely different looks is fine, but a large bridal party could be very hard to manage.

i say stick to the same color, different dresses. this is what i am doing so everyone can pick their own and feel good in them because they all have such different shapes.

I was just in a wedding last weekend, and I love what my friend did. She had a huge bridal party, so it worked, but had it been much smaller I'm not sure I would have like it. There were 11 of us - 6 in a celedon ('minty' green) and 5 in a sand color. She had a whole beach theme, and the colors just looked beautiful! We all wore neutral strappy shoes. Then to tie it all together, she took the fabric cut from our dresses during alterations, and used it to handtie the bouquets. Our flowers were celedon and lavender mini calla lillies. The whole thing looked amazing. It takes some coordination on the part of the photographer, but all in all it was a huge success and I loved it...good luck!!

I am not sure about the rainbow effect.; It might be a little too much. Maybe for a tiny party of girls. BUT - I have seen something really neat. This girl gave out (she had 8 maids) swatches of red and oranges - maybe like 3 different ones and told them to pick dresses as close as they could get to those color The effect was a very rainbowy look of a variety of the same fiery color. VERY pretty. And they picked the types of dresses they felt comfy in. It looked really nice. To pick up the color , the bride wore two flowers - one orange and one red in her hair.

I have a question for you on the girl that gave the swatches of colors to her bridesmaid. I am thinking of doing that in blues, but I am telling my girls to get any dresses they would like whether they be 'bridesmaid' dresses or just any sundresses, in those colors. Do you know if that bride had done that, and where did she get the swatches. I want the girls to be in something that is definitely comfortable and that they can definitely use, so this seems like the best way to go, but then again I want this to look good in pictures.

I saw something similar to that in Martha Stewart's wedding mag last year. It was very pretty.
