Bridesmaid dresses
Hi guys,I wanted to see if any of you had any feedback on this idea. I am doing something different with my bridsmaid dresses, instead of picking one out, I am giving my girls three swatches of blues (that is the color scheme) and having them find a dress with either one, two or all 3 blues in it, white also can be in the dress. This way they will be picking a dress they will wear again. Have you ever heard of this or seen this at a wedding. I hope it works out. Our wedding is casual, so I am not that worried, but if any of you have feedback, that would be great.
Thanks

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
Hi,I had seen this in a Martha Stewart mag wedding, all the girls were in a shade of orange or fuschia and it looked great, very cool idea and it definitely works with a casual wedding.
Best of Luck!

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I wish you luck on this... I tried to have my girls pick out thier own dress... but they just didn't want to do it that way. I thought it was a great idea, and still do. I hope your girls are more excited about this idea than my girls were...

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I think it is great idea and heard of many people that did this (there is a post on the UW site about this).I did something similar. I picked mfg, color and fabric and they all picked their own dress. Two of my friends did the same for their weddings last fall!

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I am doing something similar. I gave the girls navy blue shawls and told them to find floor-length gowns to match. It's a little too early yet for them to have bought their dresses (2 of them are pregnant, another 2 are on diets), but they all have great taste, so I'm not worried. My MOH is a little sad w/ the idea b/c she likes the idea of a more traditional bridesmaid dress, but the girls are all so different that I thought this was a better way to go. Plus you can get a much better quality dress for much less this way... And I figure you can reuse a navy dress! My FSIL did this with black and it turned out quite well!
Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I think mandating based on a swatch is a pretty idea its going to be a huge pain for your bridesmaids. A better idea might be to choose a designer and 3 fabrics and then let your bridesmaids choose a dress from that designers line.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I'm having my girls in 2 pieces by Impression Bridals. I chose the material and color, and the a-line skirt. From there, they are each picking a different top from the collection. They love this idea, and are already having so much fun with it !!!Welcome New Vendors
