Bridesmaid Dresses

Hi everyone,

I am starting to get ideas of bridesmaid dresses and found one i really like, Twobirds- they are the dresses you can wear multiple ways and were featured in a few episodes of David Tutera. They cost around $300 each.

I was wondering what is the 'average' price range that you have spent for your bridesmaid dresses?

In my opinion, $300 seems like a lot for a BM dress. I'd feel comfortable asking a BM to pay for a dress up to $150 and even then I'd be understanding that not everyone would be able to afford it.

David loves using those dresses - he's used them on a few shows already hah.

I've been trying to find 'knock offs' like that same similar style. My bridesmaids are all different sizes and I think that it would be complimentary to everyone!

Those are pretty but seem too expensive. Also - I believe it's almost impossible to wear a bra with those dresses

My bm dresses were originally 225 and the lady at Bridal reflections gave us a discount and they came out to 180.

JMHO - 300 is a lot to ask girls to spend on a BM dress..whether they can wear it again in a dofferent way or not. My BM's chose a dress that was 150 on sale for $120. yay.

My girls are wearing Two Birds dresses. They have no problem with the price at all and are excited about them. I guess it depends on your girls, i have one BM that I KNOW cannot afford it, i asked her what she could do and am paying the rest.
Im obsessed with the dresses and they are so flattering! I love that they can all wear the same dress in a different way!

have you tried Etsy? I know there were a couple of sellers that have the same dresses as Two-birds, only cheaper.

we paid for our girls' dresses because most of them had to travel to get here and we felt they already spent a lot to attend our wedding.

i've been BMs to other weddings and my max is $150. 300 is definitely a lot to shell out for most people...

We used Jenny Yoo and each of my 7 BMs was able to pick out her own style (I chose the color, fabric and length - long)....they were in the 275-315 range. My husband and I made contributions so that each dress was a flat 250 + alterations.

$300 is a lot to ask BMs to pay for a dress. Remember they have to pay for so many other things as well. I honestly don't know how much my BMs paid. They each picked their own dress.

I was in the same boat as you and it was tough trying to figure out so many different body types to fit into one dress. What I did was the same color, same designer, and same fabric and let the girls all decide what dress they wanted. I had so many other things to worry about for the wedding and i wanted the girls to be comfortable and love their dresses. PLUS, as much as I was NOT demanding to my BMs at all (like they helped me with NOTHING and even when I asked they has some kind of excuse), it was one less thing for the girls to complain about. They didn't like the price, I told them to pick another one LOL! Just a thought to look into. If you are worried about the girls different sizes, think about the same color, material, and designer.,.

I agree that 300.00 is a bit steep. I let my girls choose their own dresses (but i told them which designer, color and fabric), and they ranged from 120.00-180.00.

I am gonna re-post and just say that it really depends on your group of BMs. Everyone's group of family/friends is different. The past 3 weddings I have been in were all between 280 and 350 (Vera Wang was 280 and Lela Rose was 350). Yes it adds up, but honestly, the dress is part of being in a bridal party. Again, I would be realistic with yourself in terms of knowing the women in your BP and picking something in a range that you think makes sense....

It's good to know they have discounts! In a few months I want to go there because they are supposed to sell a dress by Jasmine that I love! It's from the Belsoie collection.

ITA that $300 is a lot to ask for a dress. Our girls paid $165 and then alterations.
