Bridesmaid Dresses

Original post by LQuinn86

Hi everyone,

I am starting to get ideas of bridesmaid dresses and found one i really like, Twobirds- they are the dresses you can wear multiple ways and were featured in a few episodes of David Tutera. They cost around $300 each.

I was wondering what is the 'average' price range that you have spent for your bridesmaid dresses?

$300 IMHO is way too much for a BM dress. I've seen those dresses....honestly, for $300, I am not impressed. You could just let your girls pick different styles of the same dress and they will not have to construct it themselves. One of my BMs actually suggested them to me (so I guess some girls wouldn't have minded paying lol), but they were just not for me.

Ive been in 2 weddings in the past 3 yrs the first dress was $120 and the second was $155 and I think $300 is a lot. I think you can find something similar for cheaper just might take some serious hunting but you have to remember its a dress your girls will probably only wear once so I would try to make it as affordable as possible or a dress you know they can wear again.

I agree that 300.00 is a bit steep. I let my girls choose their own dresses (but i told them which designer, color and fabric), and they ranged from 120.00-180.00.

where did you go? $120 is a great price

i agree 300 is a lot; i def wouldnt want to pay that to be in a bridal party for a dress i will not get a lot of use out of. i think 150 is really the max!

My BMs paid $300 for their dresses.

I agree with a previous poster that it depends on your family/friends on what they are comfortable with spending.

Hi there

I had the two birds dresses. I thought they were an awesome way to flatter all the different body types of the bridal party without anyone feeling uncomfortable about themselves. When I got them they were around $225 with the bandeau. I was able to get a discount by using the nyc location of Bella bridesmaid and I drove to nj to pick up all the dresses so none of the girls had to pay shipping or tax. Also , they don't require alterations which can be very pricey. While a $150 dress might be a great price you could easily be adding another $75-100 for alterations.

Hth !

Eta : my maid of honor was 7 months pregnant at my wedding (not pregnant when we chose dresses ) and having the two birds dress was
awesome - she didn't have to worry for one second about out growing it or having expensive and extensive alterations to try to fit in an already purchased dress.

my girls wore all different dresses. same designer , same color.. but each had a different dress to fit their body type. we got them at bella bridesmaid in the city and they ranged from 198 - 219 and i picked up the dresses in Jersey to save on tax and shipping

I love those dresses but thought the were too expensive. Its up to the bridal party though. Maybe if they think they will wear it again, they wont mind.

I hope you've seen this: DESSY

It's the Twist Wrap Dress from Dessy and it's only $140. You also have the option of buying it in long. And you can also buy THIS (twist wrap bandeau) for girls that need to wear a bra or need extra coverage.

Problem solved!

i think thats a lot for a BM to spend on a dress. they have to spend money on so many other things. there are other companies that make dresses like that. i would keep looking around. my girls i think spent 190 and that was tax included. honestly i was so easy going with the dresses. i told them all to agree on a dress and then let me see it. and it was so easy that way and we had a great time! i wouldnt want them spending more than that.
