Bridesmaid Dresses?

Bridesmaid Dresses?

Ok how do I do this?

Do I pick one out online and find out who carries it?

OR

Do I bring the girls to a store and try a bunch on?

What did everyone do? Any good stores on Long Island with a ton of bridesmaid dresses?

TIA

I looked to see what colors/brands I liked and went shopping with my MOH. She picked the dress she liked and now I'm taking my girls shopping next weekend to find a dress in that brand and color and they can pick the styles..i think its less stressful for all involved that way.

good luck!

you can do either...personally its nice to have the girls try them on bc many of them look amazing in pics and when you put it on its not as nice.

Depends on size of your wedding party. I have a 11 girls so I knew it would be to hard to have 11 girls go a pick dresses....I found a dress I really liked and then went with groups of girls to try it on..luckily eveyone love it (or so the said...hahah).

I think you should go with a couple of dress is mind like 2 or 3 and then have the girls norrow it down. If you let the girls just try on dresses you could end up with something you do not want and a lot of times the most outspoken bridesmaid wins while the more resevered girls just kinda go a long with it.

Just my thoughts...been in a couple so have seen from both sides.

I did this:

Picked out about 5 dresses at the shop I got my dress from and scheduled a day where all the girls were available.. they tried all of them on, browsed around at some others and everyone agreed on one.. which was also my favorite! It went very smooth, we had a fun time and then we went to lunch right on the same block.. which my very generous Mom paid for. Oh and also my flower girl came and she picked her own dress and color too!!!

The benefit of going to the same place you got your dress is they usually give a discount on BM dresses.. which they did for us!

ETA... I went to Bridal Suite in Bay Shore

My main thing is the color...I want a specific purple. So the 1st thing I did was check online to see who made that particular purple. Then I went on the store's website to see if that carried that brand.

i had an idea of what i liked, but everything looks different in person. i hated some that i loved, and loved some that i hated. nothing beats trying them on.

Bring the girls to the store. Most stores don't carry every dress by each designer so you'd be hard pressed to find a place with all your top picks. It's easier to let them try on what the store has available.

I had my girls wear black so I just took them to the bridal salon to look at the dresses and look around. They pulled whatever dresses they liked and each guy tried all the dresses on. They all were wearing different dresses but I told them it had to be the same designer and same material. They pull Bill Levkoff dresses only and it worked out GREAT. Ended up going with a satin fabric that the girls picked out and then they all picked their dresses. I know my girls and trust their taste so I let them all pick what they wanted. I went to The Wedding Plaza in Floral Park.

My SIL had us all wear the same dress though and what she did and take me to the store with her and try on different dresses. I'm petite and she's a little heavier then me so she was able to see the different body types in the dresses. I tried on about 20 dresses at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa until she figured out the color and dress she liked the best.

Hope this helps...

When I started planning, I realized I really like JLM Occassions. I found a store that carried a variety of the brand. I knew what colors I wanted ahead of time and made sure certain dresses came in that color. Then I went with my MOH and had her model the dresses. We picked one and had the other two girls order them. Everyone was very happy with the selection!
