Bridesmaid Dresses
Hey everyone! I bought my wedding dress on Friday at Lillette's in Bellmore. I was told to come back in a month or so to start looking for my bridesmaids dresses. However, I was wondering if anyone bought their wedding dress at one place and bridesmaids dresses at another? I was hoping to find a dress that my bridesmaids could wear again for a different occasion..and that doesn't look like the typical bridesmaid's dress! Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
I bought my dress in NJ, and since my BMs are spread throughout the Eastern Seaboard- they were on their own finding bridal salons. They just had to make sure to buy at the same time (to make sure the dye lot is the same). My girls are in different Liz Field's dresses- check her out.

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
Absolutely! Sometimes there is an incentive like a discount, but I got my wedding dress at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset and my BMs dresses at Priscilla of Boston!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
Congrats on getting your dress! I purchased my wedding dress at a completely different place than the BM dresses, no problem there at all! The BM dresses were purchased from Alexandra Boutique in Forest Hills, but those are very typical BM dresses. Personally, I think it's a great idea to get them in something that doesn't 'scream' bridesmaid. I'm *always* a huge fan of subtly patterned dresses for BMs. But you should definitely check out places like Nordstrom and Lord and Taylor for BM dresses. It's a little harder to coordinate since you have to get everyone to order at relatively the same time, just on the off chance that it goes out of stock or they don't have everyone's sizes, but it could be worth it! Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
Thanks for the info! I have a bridesmaid in Las Vegas, so ordering from a department store may make this a bit easier for her!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
I definitely agree that department stores are such a great option, if you can get everyone in there and shopping on the same day. I was at Lord and Taylor today and they had soooo many cute dresses that could be BM dresses, without looking too 'bridesmaidy'. Also, I have always loved this idea for BMs; it's definitely re-wearable and everyone will be wearing the same dress, just in the manner that suits them best.I have yet to purchase BM dresses yet but have been of the impression that it is 'better' to get it where you get your gown... not sure why though lol. I may or may not, depending if they have what I want!

Re: Bridesmaid Dresses
I bought my dress at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset. And I went back there with my BM's to look at the Bridesmaid's dresses, since the offer a 15% discount if you bought your dress there, but we wound up ordering the dresses at the Wedding Center of Commack because they were cheaper there. Also the Wedding Salon doesn't do alterations on BM dresses and the Wedding Center does (you just have to be careful of the bitchy sales woman in Commack.) Also, for the non-local BM's you can have them get measured where they are and they can call in the measurements and order their dresses over the phone and then the store can ship them to those girls. That way you know all the dresses were ordered at the same time and from the same dye lot.
My gown and my BM's dresses all came in last week!
