bridesmaid dresses

bridesmaid dresses

my bridesmaids came over this past weekend for a general meet-and-greet since they don't all know each other, and we discussed the obvious, dresses. I made it clear that since everyone comes in a variety of shapes, the only thing that needs to be uniform is the color and length of the dress. Everyone agreed to tea length, but then my best friend told me the next day that her body type doesn't look good in that length, and that she thinks we should stick to 2 or 3 styles of dresses. Would have been nice if she piped up DURING the meeting!

We decided that in early October (one BM is getting married in Sept) we'll go to Macy's Bridal in Manhasset. Now here's my big dilemna:My sister is the MOH and lives in the Bay Area, so she's not coming East until December. She initially agreed to an enhancement on her dress to differentiate that she is the MOH, but when I spoke to her on Sunday, she said she is thinking about wearing a red dress (my color is midnight/dark blue). I told her that whatever she wants because she is the MOH as well as my older sister (and bossy my entire life!) Honestly, I don't mind her wearing red or green (my other color) because she looks good in both shades, but now my best friend is up-in-arms. I don't want drama!

Nowhere in your post did you mention what YOU want. It's not your sister's wedding, or your best friend's. This is your one chance to do what you want, stop worrying about other people!

This is your wedding, do what you want. My sister told me even the easiest nicest people get annoying while planning and I'm sure you agree!

I agree,... It does not matter what your sister or your other BMs want, If you want them all in one color. Guess what... they all have to suck it up and wear the color.

If you want your sister to wear another color, guess what.... the BM have to suck it up and deal with it.

If you want them all to wear tea length dresses. Guess what... it does not matter if the BM thinks it does not look good on her.

It is your wedding which means it is your day!

yea I don't think anyone should be 'up-in-arms' except the bride haha

as long as you're not putting them in something that is downright embarrassing, then everyone should just suck it up and deal. not saying to intentionally p*ss people off with a dress choice, but you're probably not going to be able to please everyone so go with what you want.

stay strong! you are the bride!

True, but they're paying for their dresses, so I want to make sure they're happy about the selection, which is why I'm open to different styles.

I'm ok with my sister wearing a different color and telling my best friend to let it go more than anything else.

ditto to what was said - it is your day and you can only accomodate others to a certain degree!
