Ok so I just got my wedding dress and I have decided on a color for the bridesmaid dresses - Sangria (David's Bridal) with a possible accent color of Wisteria...I have not chosen a bridesmaid dress yet, but I have a question - does the dress material have to be the same as the wedding dress?? My dress is chiffon and all of the bridesmaid dresses that I like so far are all satin...does it matter or does it look weird that the dresses are different material??

So just to update everyone...the dress I found in the sangria color was discontinued :( but i did find a better dress in watermelon (which is pink, my 2nd choice color). All the girls were able to order their dresses, and after all the orders were placed I found out that they were discontinuing that dress too! So needless to say all the girls got their dresses in & were almost half price! Everything happens for a reason...so happy with the dresses the girls ended up with, they all look amazing & it's the same material as my dress! :) Pic is attached, unfortunately I couldnt attach the pic in the correct color!

Material does not have to match. I am in a wedding in June and the brides dress is satin and we are in chiffon.

This is just my opinion, but I prefer short dresses, especially for a summer wedding. I just think that the bride should be the only one in a long dress. I know a lot of people like the formal look of long gowns, and I've been a BM in weddings where we wore long gowns, and I liked it, but I just prefer the short dress for BM's.
However, I will say that I LOVE long chiffon dresses! just like the movement of them!

I'm the kind of bride who thinks BM dresses should compliment the theme/feel of your wedding - this past summer my cousin got married in a tulle/chiffon dress and we as BMs wore tea-length satin gowns. None of the guests, women at the dress boutique, or any of us in the bridal party itself thought any of those details was an issue.
I can't say what my own BMs will be wearing because I want them to choose their own so I'm really excited for them to start looking
